2025 Fantasy Outlook
A waiver claim by the Mets during the summer of 2023, Garrett finally produced consistent results to carve out a regular role in the majors. Prior to 2024, the 31-year-old produced a 7.11 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 32:28 K:BB over 44.1 big league innings. So what changed? Garrett previously leaned on his fastball as his primary offering, but changed his pitch mix to throw more splitters (27 percent usage) and sweepers (20 percent). This yielded much better results, as the split-finger generated a 51.1 percent whiff rate (5th highest in the league for that pitch type) and .132 BAA. Garrett missed one month due to elbow inflammation, but he cemented himself as a high-leverage contributor when healthy, posting eight wins, four saves and 14 holds across his 53 appearances. A 12.1 percent walk rate and 1.40 WHIP were notable flaws in his game, so don't discount the possibility of Garrett becoming a non-factor in 2025. Read Past Outlooks
Takes loss Thursday
Garrett (7-4) took the loss Thursday against the A's, allowing two runs on three hits and a walk in one inning. He struck out one.
ANALYSIS
Garrett entered the game in the sixth inning with the Mets ahead 6-5. He promptly allowed a single and a double to lead off the frame, allowing Oakland to tie the game on a fielder's choice, before Seth Brown put the A's ahead 7-6 with a one-out single. It was a tough outing for the 31-year-old Garrett in just his second appearance following a month-long IL stint. The right-hander now sports a 3.89 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP and 67:23 K:BB through 44 innings this season while logging four saves and eight holds.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Save chances soon?
Mets closer Edwin Diaz's confidence is down following his third blown save Saturday against the Marlins, per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, which could open the door for some save chances for Garrett.
ANALYSIS
Garrett has been a surprisingly valuable bullpen piece for the Mets this year with five wins and a 0.78 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 37:11 K:BB over 23 innings, and he's also seen more high-leverage work of late with four holds and a save. Diaz hasn't officially been demoted from the closer role, but that could be the next course of action for manager Carlos Mendoza, at least on a temporary basis. Adam Ottavino would also be in the mix for saves should that happen.
