Magic Hold On To Get Past Raptors
The Orlando Magic defeated the Toronto Raptors, 113-109, at Amway Center on Friday.

The Magic (7-20) have not had a good season in 2022-23 so far, but they had an impressive performance to defeat the Raptors (13-13), as Orlando moved to 6-9 at home with the win and Toronto fell to 3-10 on the road. The Magic enjoyed an impressive start and jumped out to a 37-25 lead in the first quarter, but that would be everything they’d need to secure the victory. Even though the Raptors responded with a 38-30 lead in the second quarter, Orlando still had a sizable four-point lead at the break and bolstered that to a seven-point advantage after the third quarter. Toronto would still won the final quarter by a 22-19 score, but that wasn’t enough to mount the comeback and the Magic escaped with the victory.

Franz Wagner had one of his best performances of the season and delivered 34 points to lead the Magic. Paolo Banchero finished with 23 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Markelle Fultz posted 15 points, five assists and three boards. Bol Bol had 10 points and six rebounds, while Moritz Wagner posted 11 points and four boards. Cole Anthony had 18 points and Mo Bamba grabbed 13 boards, both off the bench.

Pascal Siakam scored a game-high 36 points, but his efforts were not enough to lead the Raptors -- he also had nine rebounds and seven assists. Fred VanVleet notched 19 points and six assists, while O.G. Anunoby recorded 12 points, eight rebounds, five steals and two assists. Gary Trent Jr. scored 20 points and Chris Boucher had 10 points off the bench.
