Pelicans Need OT To Get Past Suns
The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Phoenix Suns, 129-124, at Smoothie King Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Suns (16-11) enjoyed a strong start and grabbed the lead following the first quarter by a 36-29 score, but the Pelicans (18-8) were not ready to be thrashed in their own court and responded with a 28-22 score in the second 12-minute period, reducing the deficit to just one point. New Orleans kept the momentum going and also won the third quarter by a 41-35 score, meaning they grabbed a five-point lead entering the final minutes, but they could not sustain it. The Suns woke up just before it was too late, and they forced overtime after winning the fourth quarter by a 24-19 score. The overtime was tight, but in the end, the Pelicans were in control and managed to grab the win after tightening things up defensively. They won overtime by a 12-7 score.

Zion Williamson showed the way for the Pelicans after scoring a team-high 35 points with eight rebounds, while C.J. McCollum ended with 29 points and seven assists. Dyson Daniels made a spot start and finished with 11 points and eight assists, while Jonas Valanciunas grabbed 10 points to go along with eight boards. Naji Marshall had 16 points, five boards and five assists off the bench, while Larry Nance Jr. had 15 points with seven boards.

Deandre Ayton was the best player for Phoenix after posting 28 points and 12 boards, while Mikal Bridges delivered 27 points and five boards. Torrey Craig ended with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Chris Paul dished out 11 assists to go along with six points. Cameron Payne notched 17 points and three assists.
