Wizards Secure Big Win Over Timberwolves
The Washington Wizards defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves, 142-127, at Capital One Arena on Monday.

The Wizards (11-10) moved over the .500 threshold and sent the Timberwolves (10-11) below that line following what was perhaps their best offensive performance of the entire 2022-23 season to date. The Wizards looked good from the early going and raced out to a 38-33 lead in the first quarter, bolstering that advantage even further to a double-digit figure after a 39-25 score in the second 12-minute period of the first half. Leading by 19 points at the break, the Wizards slowed things down in the third quarter and allowed Minnesota to reduce the deficit to just 12 points following a 39-32 third-quarter score, but the Timberwolves didn’t have enough in them to mount a comeback. The Wizards won the final quarter by a 33-30 score, and that allowed them to close things out for good.

Kristaps Porzingis had an excellent performance and finished with 41 points, but he also added four rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals. Kyle Kuzma sniffed a triple-double after ending with 23 points, nine assists and eight rebounds, and Bradley Beal secured 22 points to go along with five assists and two steals. Corey Kispert (11 points) and Jordan Goodwin (10 points) also had decent performances off the bench for the Wizards.

Anthony Edwards was the best player for the Timberwolves and finished with 29 points, but he also added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Rudy Gobert posted 19 points and seven rebounds, and D’Angelo Russell posted 17 points, five assists and four boards. Karl-Anthony Towns struggled and only scored eight points. Jaylen Nowell shone off the bench and registered 23 points.
