Sixers Hang On At Home
The Philadelphia 76ers defeated the visting Los Angeles Lakers 133-122 at Wells Fargo Center on Friday evening.

The game got out to a tight start but the hosts pulled away with an 11-point lead after one quarter. The Lakers turned it up in the second and charged to a six-point lead, before the 76ers reclaimed a two-point edge by halftime. The Sixers maintained the momentum in the third and pushed ahead to a 10-point lead heading into the final frame. They kept the pressure on and led by 16 points with four minutes left in the fourth, but the Lakers mounted a brilliant rally to tie the game at 120, forcing overtime. The Sixers got back on track in the extra period, outscoring the visitors 12-2, to secure the home win and end a three-game slide. This marks the third straight loss for the Lakers.

Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 38 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and a steal, in 46 minutes. De'Anthony Melton followed up with 33 points, four rebounds, two assists and seven steals, while James Harden tallied 28 points, four rebounds, 12 assists, two steals and a block. The 76ers shot 53 percent from the field, including 18-of-40 from deep.

Meanwhile, Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 31 points, 12 rebounds, two steals and two blocks, in 36 minutes. Austin Reaves followed up with 25 points, two rebounds, five assists and two steals, while LeBron James totaled 23 points, four rebounds, six assists and two steals. The Lakers shot 50 percent from the field, including 11-of-31 from long range.

The Lakers (10-15) will look to bounce back as they take on the Pistons in Detroit on Sunday. The 76ers (13-12) play host to the Hornets on Sunday.
