Celtics Come Up Clutch At Home To Keep Postseason Alive
The Boston Celtics defeated the visiting Miami Heat, 110-97, in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals at TD Garden on Thursday evening.

The Celtics jumped out to a great start with a 35-20 lead after one quarter. The Heat brought a better effort in the second but could not cut into the deficit as the Celtics held a 17-point advantage heading into the break. Both sides brought a similar effort in the third, but the host stayed in control and pushed it to a an 18-point game entering the final frame. The Heat continued to fight in the fourth but it was too little, too late, as the Celtics held on to avoid elimination and earn their second win of the series.

Derrick White led the Celtics with 24 points, three rebounds and two steals, in 37 minutes. Marcus Smart followed up with 23 points, three rebounds, two assists and five steals, while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown totaled 21 points each. The Celtics shot 50.6 percent from the field, including 16-of-39 from long range.

Meanwhile, Duncan Robinson led the Heat with 18 points, four rebounds and nine assists in 28 minutes off the bench. Bam Adebayo followed up with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block, while Jimmy Butler tallied 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and two steals. The Heat shot 51.3 percent from the field, including 9-of-23 from deep.

Game 6 is scheduled for Saturday in Miami.
