Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Stephens signed a three-year, $36 million contract with the Jets in the offseason, and he'll compete with rookie third-round pick Azareye'h Thomas for the outside cornerback spot opposite Sauce Gardner, which was vacated by D.J. Reed's departure. Stephens had at least 70 tackles in three of four seasons with the Ravens and racked up 21 passes defensed over the past two campaigns. Stephens struggled in coverage in 2024, but new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn played CB in the NFL and is hoping to coax a bounce-back campaign out of the 27-year-old free-agent signing. Makes six stops in loss
Stephens recorded six tackles (five solo) and two passes defensed during Sunday's 37-22 loss versus the Cowboys.
ANALYSIS
It was another nice day in the box score in Week 5 for Stephens, who has now recorded at least six tackles in three straight games. He also now has four pass breakups on the season, putting him on pace for a career year in that category. Running mate Sauce Gardner's reputation in coverage should continue to direct a lot of action towards Stephens in Week 6 versus the Broncos.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Stephens has gone from being a third-round developmental prospect into a key cog in the Baltimore secondary. The 26-year-old played 1,154 snaps in 2023, ranking third among defensive backs in the NFL. He turned those opportunities into 74 tackles, two interceptions, and a career-best 11 passes defended. Stephens enters a contract year on an upward trajectory and stands to be an every-down player despite Baltimore's defensive coordinator change.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could lose job to rookie
Eric Edholm of NFL.com believes Stephens could cede the starting cornerback role to rookie third-round pick Azareye'h Thomas.
ANALYSIS
The Jets signed Stephens to a three-year, $36 million contract in March with the intention of starting him on the outside opposite Sauce Gardner, but Stephens was plagued in OTAs by the same coverage issues that limited his effectiveness with the Ravens, namely struggling to get his head around in time to play the ball. Thomas has reportedly outperformed Stephens thus far in practice and is making a push to relegate the veteran to a reserve role.
