2025 Fantasy Outlook
A 2022 fourth-round pick, Austin didn't play at all his rookie season and then caught just 17 passes in 2023, before taking a big step last year with a 36-548-4 receiving line on 58 targets. At 5-foot-9, 162, he's one of the smallest players in the NFL but also one of the fastest (4.30 40). Austin was largely limited to three-wide sets last year, taking 52.4 percent of his snaps from the slot, and that may be the case again in 2025 even though the Steelers have poor depth at wide receiver. They swapped out George Pickens for DK Metcalf, leaving Austin to compete with Roman Wilson, Robert Woods, Scotty Miller and others for the Nos. 2 and 3 WR spots. But they also traded for TE Jonnu Smith, which likely means more two-TE sets with Pat Freiermuth and fewer snaps for Austin. Even if Austin locks down a regular role, there's no guarantee of increased target volume, as he's unlikely to be an every-down player or see a lot of passes in a run-first offense under Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. RANKS
Scores huge late TD
Austin had three receptions on seven targets for 55 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Ravens.
ANALYSIS
Austin played the role of hero sans WR DK Metcalf (suspension) in Week 18 when he took advantage of a slip to the turf by Ravens cornerback Chidobe Awuzie in the final minute of regulation for the game-winning touchdown grab. The 26-year-old Austin was held to one reception for eight yards filling in for Metcalf last week, so this performance truly came from out of nowhere. Austin finishes the regular season with a 31-372-3 receiving line in 14 games, numbers that were good enough to register only with those playing in deeper fantasy formats. With Metcalf returning to action in the wild-card round of the playoffs, Austin possesses minimal upside for next Monday's tilt against the Texans.

Austin looked like an emerging player through four games last season. During that time, the receiver averaged three catches and 33 yards. However, the Steelers offense was a mess. The team relied heavily on their rushing attack. That led to Austin catching six passes for 44 yards over his last 13 games. Although it’s possible that Austin sees an increase in snaps this season, but the receiver may have to hold off rookie Roman Wilson for a prominent role in the offense. Also, it is worrisome that Arthur Smith is the offensive coordinator. The new coach will likely continue to feature the run game. As a result, Austin may not see enough targets to have a breakout season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be WR1 barring injury
Austin is dealing with a hamstring injury, but if cleared to play, he would serve as the Steelers' No. 1 wideout against the Browns on Sunday due to the absence of DK Metcalf, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Metcalf has been suspended for the final two games of the regular season after getting into an altercation with a fan during the Steelers' 29-24 win over the Lions in Week 16. That leaves Austin as the Steelers' top pass-catcher for Weeks 17 and 18, but the fourth-year wideout opened the week with a DNP on Wednesday and has two more opportunities to practice in at least a limited capacity ahead of this Sunday's AFC North tilt. Austin has seen two targets or less in five of the Steelers' last six games but is in line to see more looks from Aaron Rodgers down the stretch as the Steelers look to clinch the AFC North division title.
