2023 Fantasy Outlook
Rodriguez landed in Washington in the sixth round of the 2023 Draft, after a prolific college career at Kentucky with 3,600 rushing yards and 33 TDs over the past four seasons. He only caught 20 passes, and a 4.52 40 at his pro day suggests the 224-pounder is more likely to be a power back than a big-play threat in the NFL. That could put him in play for some of the work 2022 third-rounder Brian Robinson got last season en route to a 205-797-2 rushing line in 12 games. The Commanders also still have Antonio Gibson, who got a career-high 58 targets last season despite competing with J.D. McKissic for passing-down snaps in the first half of the year. Ruled out for Week 4
Rodriguez (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's Week 4 game against the Eagles, Matthew Paras of The Washington Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Rodriguez was downgraded to DNP Thursday after being limited Wednesday. With Rodriguez on the shelf, Derrick Gore looks like a prime candidate to be promoted from the practice squad to fill RB3 duties behind Brian Robinson and Antonio Gibson.
