Rest-of-Season Projections
2023 Fantasy Outlook
Edmonds makes for an intriguing, younger change-of-pace back for Tampa Bay than the retired Giovani Bernard and comes into the 2023 season with something to prove after being largely ignored in both Miami and Denver last season. Edmonds finished with just 68 carries and 16 receptions combined between those stops after putting together a career-best season with the Cardinals in 2021, during which he amassed 903 total yards. Rachaad White has a firm grasp on an early-down role and certainly isn't without pass-catching ability, but Edmonds' speed in space should help him separate from holdover Ke'Shawn Vaughn and allow him to garner the No. 2 RB role this summer. Going to injured reserve
The Buccaneers placed Edmonds (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Edmonds exited this past Sunday's win over the Bears due to a knee injury and was ruled out after halftime. On Monday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Edmonds was slated for an MRI, specifically referring to his MCL. While the extent of the injury isn't clear, Edmonds will miss at least the next four games. The Buccaneers will continue to lean on Rachaad White out of their backfield, with Sean Tucker operating as the clear top backup.

Most of us would sooner forget the Broncos-Bears game, but it was at least interesting for fantasy purposes thanks to young RBs Khalil Herbert and Jaleel McLaughlin both taking on larger roles.

Week 2 was promising for many of last week's popular waiver additions, including Zack Moss and Kyren Williams handling every-down roles.

The Rams remain the center of the fantasy universe as RotoWire's Jerry Donabedian takes his weekly look at playing time, usage and personnel from every Week 2 contest.

Working in a timeshare with James Conner last season, Edmonds averaged 5.1 yards per carry
and caught 43 passes in 12 games. He didn't get many red-zone looks but did lead all running
backs with 3.6 yards per carry prior to contact. He and Conner wound up with almost exactly the
same average scrimmage yards per game, 75.3 versus 75.1, respectively, but their campaigns
could not have been more different from a fantasy perspective as Conner's red-zone usage
resulted in 18 touchdowns while Edmonds found the end zone just twice. The Cardinals decided
not to re-sign the Fordham product when his rookie contract expired this offseason, and he
quickly agreed to a two-year, $12.6 million deal with the Dolphins. Miami seems to have no
intention of giving Edmonds a shot at a workhorse role, however, adding the 26-year-old to a
backfield that now includes fellow offseason addition Raheem Mostert. Edmonds could still pop for an occasional big game, but it might be
the same deal as Arizona where he gets most of his work between the 20s and on passing
downs.
