Set to back up Lamar Jackson
Rush and the Ravens have agreed to a two-year contract valued at up to $12.2 million, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Rush spent the first eight seasons of his career in Dallas and made 14 starts during that span, winning nine of those games. The 31-year-old saw the most action of his career last year after Dak Prescott (hamstring) was hurt in Week 10, and Rush finished with an 83.8 passer rating, completing 61 percent of his 308 pass attempts with 12 touchdowns and five interceptions over 12 games. With Baltimore, Rush will be the No. 2 QB behind Lamar Jackson, who has missed just one regular-season contest over the past two years.

Rush was relegated to mop-up duty last season, as Dak Prescott was healthy for a full season for the first time in four years. Rush didn’t do much when he did get on the field, posting a 6.0 YPA with only two completions longer than 20 yards (on 24 attempts). The Cowboys seem content with Rush’s game-managing skills, and Trey Lance, for whom Dallas traded just before Week 1 last season, never challenged him for the backup job. Perhaps that changes this season. Lance certainly is more physically skilled than Rush and far more mobile -- in the last three seasons, Rush has -7 rushing yards on 30 carries. If Lance’s accuracy finally comes around, he would have more upside, both to the Cowboys and fantasy owners, than Rush.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Time could be over in Dallas
Rush may be priced out of the Cowboys' plans in free agency, David Moore of the Dallas Morning News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 31-year-old quarterback has had success in Dallas, going 9-5 in his starts when Dak Prescott has been sidelined, including the second half of the 2024 season after Prescott underwent hamstring surgery in November. That success could make him too expensive to bring back, however, given the massive cap hit Prescott carries. Rush likely doesn't have the physical tools to interest other teams looking for a starter, but he could be a good fit for an organization looking for a steady, experienced No. 2 QB.
