2025 Fantasy Outlook
Culp’s 4.47 speed is impressive for a tight end, but he doesn’t have much else going for him. The 2024 seventh-round pick had just five catches as a rookie, even though starting TE Cade Otton missed three games due to a knee injury. Otton and Payne Durham are both clearly ahead of Culp on the depth chart, and Culp’s limitations as a blocker will likely keep his snaps limited in a Tampa Bay offense that relies primarily on its standout wide receiver room for production through the air. Could see early-season boost
Culp is in line to see increased target opportunities if No. 1 tight end Cade Otton (leg) is sidelined to open the regular season, Brianna Dix of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Todd Bowles previously remarked that Otton is expected "to be out a little bit," without further details. However, more information on a projected return timeline is expected during the official Week 1 practice week next week, and Dix notes the Buccaneers will take a "committee approach" at tight end for any games Otton might be sidelined for. Considering No. 3 tight Ko Kieft has all of one reception since the beginning of the 2023 season, such a scenario would leave Culp and Payne Durham as the only legitimate pass-catching options at the position to open the season. That was the case during Weeks 16-18 last season when Otton sat out with a knee injury, a span in which Culp flashed some downfield chops while recording a 5-88 line on six targets. The second-year pro also generated three first downs on his five preseason receptions this summer, including on a 22-yard grab in the exhibition finale against the Bills on Saturday night.

Culp was the 12th and final tight end to hear his name called in the 2024 NFL Draft, going to the Buccaneers with the 246th overall pick in Round 7. Tampa Bay’s a decent landing spot for a tight end looking to make an impact right away. Cade Otton has a firm grasp on the starting job going into his third NFL season, but the depth chart behind the 2022 fourth-round draft pick consists of three unproven late picks in recent drafts: 2022 sixth-round pick Ko Kieft, 2023 fifth-rounder Payne Durham, and Culp. Though Culp accounted for only 474 of Michael Penix’s 9,544 passing yards in 28 games at Washington over the past two seasons, the 6-foot-3, 231-pound tight end ran a blazing fast 4.47-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. Culp underwhelmed statistically in college and will need to greatly improve his blocking to earn consistent playing time, but his measurables give him some fantasy upside as a pass-catching tight end/wide receiver hybrid.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Chance for early impact
Culp could see an expanded role in Week 1 against the Falcons, as Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports that Cade Otton is dealing with a leg injury that could impact Otton's Week 1 availability.
ANALYSIS
If Otton's unable to play in the regular-season opener, that would open the door for Payne Durham, Ko Kieft and Culp to see more action. Culp has the most pass-catching upside out of Tampa Bay's backup tight ends, having racked up 88 receiving yards over the last two games of the 2024 regular season when Otton was sidelined by a knee injury.
