2025 Fantasy Outlook
Higgins has an intriguing skill set, as he played wide receiver at Stanford before converting to tight end at the NFL level. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound Higgins has just 335 yards and three TDs through two seasons with the Cardinals. While he may be getting more comfortable at his new position heading into his third NFL campaign, Higgins is blocked by one of the league’s premier pass catching TEs in Trey McBride, who signed a four-year, $76 million extension to become the league’s highest-paid player at the position. Arizona also has 2024 third-round draft pick Tip Reiman to push Higgins for playing time behind McBride. Read Past Outlooks
Held without catch Sunday
Higgins didn't haul in his only target during Sunday's 37-14 loss at Cincinnati.
ANALYSIS
After racking up a career-best 7-91-0 line on eight targets Week 16 against the Falcons, Higgins fell back to earth this past Sunday, notching no catches for the third time in 16 games this season. Because he routinely is a distant second to Trey McBride in the TE pecking order in Arizona, Higgins doesn't hold much sway in an offense that also has seen WR Michael Wilson emerge as one of QB Jacoby Brissett's favorite targets over the last seven games -- Wilson has 80 targets to McBride's 73 during that span. Higgins' recent eight-target performance aside, he has only nine total targets in the other six contests in that stretch, keeping him firmly out of fantasy consideration heading into Sunday's road matchup with the Rams.

Higgins played wide receiver at Stanford but was drafted by the Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft with an eye on turning him into a tight end. Miami quickly gave up on that project, waiving Higgins before the start of the season, at which point he was claimed by Arizona and proceeded to post 163 yards and one touchdown as a rookie. The rebuilding Cardinals are better positioned to take a patient approach with the 6-foot-3, 235-pound Higgins’ position change, but his path to playing time could be blocked by two other young tight ends. Trey McBride emerged as one of the NFL’s most productive tight ends last season and the Cardinals bolstered the position by selecting Tip Reiman in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Bigger role on offense?
The Cardinals will be without wide receivers Marvin Harrison and Greg Dortch for Sunday's game against the Rams due to heel and chest injuries, respectively, which could result in Higgins being utilized more in the passing game.
ANALYSIS
Higgins was a wide receiver during his collegiate career at Stanford, but he was converted to tight end after entering the NFL as the Dolphins' sixth-round pick of the 2023 NFL Draft. He has served as the Cardinals' TE2 this season behind Trey McBride, but with Harrison ruled out, Dortch being placed on injured reserve and Xavier Weaver in jeopardy of being sidelined due to a hamstring injury he sustained during Thursday's practice, Higgins is in position to take on an expanded role in Arizona's passing attack Sunday. Higgins has caught two passes or more in four of five games since the Cardinals' Week 8 bye, and for the season he has accumulated 18 catches on 22 targets for 179 yards across 12 regular-season games.
