Back to practice squad
Brooks reverted to the Commanders' practice squad Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Brooks was elevated for Monday's loss to the Bears to provide depth at receiver. He played seven offensive snaps in the loss but didn't record a target. With Washington having placed Noah Brown (groin/knee) on injured reserve Wednesday, the team could again end up elevating at least one of Brooks or Tay Martin from the practice squad for Sunday's road matchup against the Cowboys in Week 7.

Has path to 53-man roster
Ben Standig of The Athletic has Brooks at the top of his list of undrafted free agents most likely to make the Commanders' 53-man roster for the 2025 season.
ANALYSIS
A former five-star recruit, Brooks was on the verge of breaking out at Alabama before suffering a season-ending labrum tear in 2023. He transferred to Louisville in 2024 and finished the season with 61 catches for 1,013 yards and nine touchdowns, but he did not hear his name called during the 2025 NFL Draft despite being a First-Team All-ACC selection. He has the raw talent and vertical playmaking to be an intriguing option in the passing game, but in a crowded wide receiving room, Standig believes Brooks' best path to securing a spot on the 53-man roster is through special teams work.
