2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Giants traded three picks to move up to select Dart 25th overall in this year’s draft. He'll likely get time to develop behind veterans Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, though a training camp competition isn't entirely out of the question. Dart completed 69.3 percent of his passes at Ole Miss last season and led the FBS with 10.8 YPA. It was the third straight year in which his completion percentage, YPA and passer rating all improved from the previous season, and also his third straight year with at least 389 rushing yards. At 6-foot-2, 224, Dart moves well for his size but is sometimes too eager to scramble, and he may not be fast enough for his college rushing production to translate to the pros (he didn't run a 40-yard dash). He has a quick release with solid velocity, but the Ole Miss offense didn't always require full-field reads, and scouts said he often struggled when forced off his initial read. The biggest issue, though, might be his lack of an elite skill or trait. Nevertheless, the Giants hope a rookie apprenticeship will help the 22-year-old become their franchise QB. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Preseason debut on tap
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that Dart will take the field during Saturday's preseason opener against the Bills, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Daboll declined to reveal whether Russell Wilson and the rest of New York's starters will suit up Sunday, but the Giants' rookie first-round QB will get a chance to take the field in some capacity. Per Matt Citak of the team's official site, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka said Tuesday that Dart is "right on schedule" in terms of his development and "continuing to grow and learn every day," though the team has consistently communicated that Wilson is locked in as New York's unquestioned starter to kick off the regular season, with Jameis Winston available as his top backup.

Makes first-team cameo Wednesday
Dart logged one first-team rep during the Giants' opening practice of training camp Wednesday, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie first-round pick took the rest of his snaps with the second team and went 3-for-7 with a pick-six, which came on his first pass of the day. Head coach Brian Daboll was unequivocal in naming Russell Wilson as the clear-cut starting quarterback for New York. However, it's worth noting both Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen were with the Bills during Josh Allen's rookie season in 2018, a year in which the original plan was to have Allen sit and learn but ultimately saw him appear in 12 regular-season games.
