Returning to Cleveland
Flacco has agreed to a one-year deal with the Browns, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Per the report, Flacco's deal is for $4 million, though the veteran QB could earn up to $13 million with incentives factored in. Flacco -- who played for the Colts last season -- is thus in line to return to Cleveland, where he won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award in 2023. Bringing back the 40-year-old bolsters a signal-caller corps that also includes Deshaun Watson -- who could miss most or all of the 2025 season due to an Achilles injury -- and 2022 first-rounder Kenny Pickett. It's also quite possible that the Browns will select another QB in the upcoming NFL Draft, but as things stand now, Flacco is in a position to compete with Pickett to be the team's starter in Week 1.

Flacco signed a one-year deal in March with $4.5 million guaranteed to back up Anthony Richardson in Indianapolis. Flacco gives the Colts a veteran capable of keeping the team afloat should Richardson go down. That’s what he did last year in Cleveland, after joining the Browns in mid-November. By December, he was the starter and guided the Browns to the playoffs, earning Comeback Player of the Year honors. Flacco’s on-target rate was 67.6 percent -- 33rd of 35 QBs with at least 200 attempts -- partly because he went downfield at such a high rate -- 38.3 percent of attempts went at least 10 yards (2nd), 12.3 percent at least 20 yards (3rd). Among QBs with at least 200 attempts, his 9.3 air yards per attempt ranked second and his 7.9 YPA was sixth. Flacco still has a strong arm, and at 39, he still has something left in the tank.

Reunites with Browns
Flacco signed a one-year deal Friday with the Browns, the team he won the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year award with in 2023, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Oyefusi's ESPN colleague Adam Schefter reports the deal has a total base value of $4 million but could be worth as much as $13 million with incentives. The veteran quarterback had also spoken with the Steelers and Vikings, but he'll now be a potential season-opening starting option for Cleveland. Deshaun Watson is slated to miss most or all of the 2025 season due to his Achilles injury, and the only other quarterback on the roster at the moment is recent trade acquisition Kenny Pickett.
