2025 Fantasy Outlook
Clifford has spent both his professional seasons with the Packers, but after serving as the backup in Year 1 he primarily filled a practice-squad spot last year as Malik Willis assumed No. 2 duties behind Jordan Love. Both Love and Willis remain in Green Bay, so expect Clifford to fill a similar role in 2025. Read Past Outlooks

The Packers waived Clifford on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Both Clifford and Taylor Elgersma were cut by the Packers on Tuesday, leaving Malik Willis behind Jordan Love (thumb) at quarterback for the Packers. Clifford was a fifth-round pick out of Penn State in 2023 and performed three kneel-downs in two appearances with the Packers as a rookie. He hasn't played in a regular-season NFL game since and completed nine of 17 passes for a minuscule 44 yards this preseason, averaging a microscopic 2.6 yards per attempt.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
Clifford is back to again work behind starter Jordan Love for the Packers. A fifth-round pick in last year’s draft, Clifford took 16 snaps all season, including playoffs, completing his only pass attempt -- a 37-yarder in Week 17 that traveled 34 yards in the air. That said, Clifford isn’t known for his arm strength, but at 6-2, 218, he is strong in the pocket and has decent mobility. The Packers have a good, young group of receivers and added Josh Jacobs to the backfield this offseason. If Love is out, Clifford figures to fill a game-manager role, but with coach Matt LaFleur calling plays and a strong supporting cast, Clifford could have value in two-QB leagues.
A four-year starter at Penn State, Clifford was selected by Green Bay in the fifth round of this year's draft. That may have been a bit higher than expected considering he'll turn 25 years old in July and isn't known for his arm talent, but he fits the bill for the Packers, who value his leadership skills and athleticism and are in need of a backup behind first-year starter Jordan Love. Journeyman Danny Etling is the only other quarterback on the roster, so Clifford will get the opportunity to open the season directly behind Love on the depth chart.
