Sweat registered 41 tackles (27 solo), including 8.0 sacks, and two pass defenses across 16 regular-season appearances in 2024. He tallied 10 stops (five solo), including 2.5 sacks, across four postseason contests.
ANALYSIS
Sweat logged his second-most sacks in a season, falling three shy of his career-best 2022 campaign. This increased production came despite playing about 200 fewer defensive snaps than he did in 2023 when he played 17 regular-season games. The seven-year vet signed a one-year, $10 million deal to stay with the Eagles in September, and he'll essentially become an unrestricted free agent after this contract voids Feb. 17. Sweat now was totaled 43 sacks across the last six regular season with the Eagles, and he could stand to cash in on the free-agent market ahead of the 2025 campaign.

After jumping up to a career-high 11.0 sacks in 2022, Sweat fell back to 6.5 last season, which is in line with his totals from 2020 (6.0) and 2021 (7.5). The drop in production is disappointing considering that it came as Sweat saw a big jump in his snap share, going from 56 to 71 percent of defensive plays. He also had a slight decrease in tackles, going from 48 to 43. Sweat should remain an important part of the Eagles' pass rush this season, but his drop in output could lead to a return to the smaller role he had for most of his career.
Sweat started 16 games and finished third on the Eagles defensive line in total defensive snaps (587) last season, resulting in career highs across the board. Sweat's 48 tackles, 11 sacks and 15 tackles for a loss all represented personal bests, while he also intercepted a pass for the first time, running it back for a score. The 2018 fourth-round pick has developed nicely over his five seasons in Philadelphia but will have to keep performing to maintain his snap count on a deep defensive line which gets Derek Barnett back from his ACL surgery.
Sweat, a fourth-round pick in the 2018 draft, was part of the Eagles' defensive end rotation in his first three years in the league, but he stepped into a more important role last season. After Brandon Graham tore his Achilles early in the year, Sweat went on to start 13 games, setting career highs in tackles (45) and sacks (7.5), the latter of which tied for the team lead. Graham is back with the Eagles this season, but he's also 34 years old and coming off a major injury, so Sweat should see plenty of snaps.
In his third year, Sweat had his best campaign yet as a pro, registering 38 tackles and six sacks. Dubbed one of the Eagles' breakout defensive stars of training camp, he could be poised for an even better 2021.
Scouts widely hail the 6-5, 250-pound Sweat as a freakish athlete. He was the No. 1 high school recruit in the nation when he suffered a horrific knee injury that put not only his career in danger, but also future ownership of his leg. Due to league-wide concerns about the knee, the Eagles were able to snag him as a fourth-round draft pick. He'll be able develop under the tutelage of Fletcher Cox, Michael Bennett, Chris Long and company without the pressure of having to contribute right away. However, the rookie succeeds at getting after the quarterback, a major emphasis of defensive coordinator Jim Scwartz's system, so he could very well find himself with regular snaps. The 21-year-old has more than enough talent to pry his way into Philadelphia's rotation at end.

Unlikely to return to Philly
LBPhiladelphia Eagles
February 25, 2025
The Eagles are not expected to re-sign Sweat this offseason, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports.
ANALYSIS
The Eagles have $22 million in cap space but have strong depth among their edge rushers, led by Bryce Huff and Nolan Smith. With defensive line a strength of the 2025 draft class, Philadelphia could also easily replenish the position. Sweat should have plenty of interest around the league, as he's tallied at least 6.0 sacks in five consecutive campaigns.
