2025 Fantasy Outlook
Boutte had 735 yards as an 18-year-old freshman at LSU back in 2020, followed by 508 yards and nine TDs in six games in 2021, before disappointing in his final season with 538 yards over 11 games. He then dropped to Round 6 of the 2023 Draft after crashing out at the combine with a 4.50 40 and 29-inch vertical (at 5-11, 195). There wasn't much reason to think we'd hear from Boutte again after a two-catch rookie season, but the Patriots gave him a shot last year after their other WRs (besides slot man DeMario Douglas) provided next to nothing. Boutte responded with a long stretch of mediocre receiving lines, averaging 2.5 catches for 33.6 yards on 4.6 targets in his first 10 starts, before erupting over the final three weeks for a combined 16-240-2 receiving line on 19 targets. He drew targets on just 16.4 percent of his routes for the season, but easily led New England's qualified pass catchers in aDOT (14.2), yards per target (8.7) and yards per catch (13.7). While it may not have been enough to lock down a 2025 starting job, Boutte should at least have the chance to compete with rookie third-round pick Kyle Williams -- and there may even be room for both if free-agent signing Stefon Diggs struggles to come back from an ACL tear. ANALYSIS
After catching just two passes in five games as a rookie, the 2023 sixth-rounder began his second campaign as a pro in depth role, but by Week 5, Boutte began seeing steady snaps, a trend that lasted the rest of the season. The LSU product remains under contract with New England through 2026, and looking ahead, Boutte's fantasy upside in 2025 hinges on what moves the Patriots make this offseason in order to bolster their wideout corps. For now, DeMario Douglas, Kendrick Bourne, Ja'Lynn Polk and Javon Baker remain in the mix, but adding an impact player (or two) at the position is presumably a priority for the rebuilding franchise.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
After being selected by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2023 draft, Boutte caught two passes for 17 yards while playing in four games. At six foot, 217 pounds, Boutte tested poorly before his rookie season. The receiver posted a 50th percentile 40-yard dash time. In addition, Boutte’s explosiveness testing was in the 23rd percentile. Finally, he had a 43rd percentile agility score. After the Patriots added Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker in the draft, it may be difficult for the former LSU player to have a prominent role in the Patriots offense, though Boutte should have a chance to earn a role during training camp.
After a strong first two years at LSU, Boutte appeared to be on his way to being an early round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, during his 2022 junior season with the Tigers, he recorded just 48 catches for 538 yards and two touchdowns on 74 targets. Then, following subpar results at the combine, Boutte tumbled to the Patriots in the sixth round of April's draft. Given where he was taken, the 5-11, 195-pounder isn't guaranteed a key role as a rookie, let alone a roster spot. Still, the potential is there for Boutte (formerly a standout college recruit) to bounce back as a pro and turn into a huge bargain for New England.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Battling to make team
WRNew England Patriots
May 29, 2025
Boutte will be battling for a roster spot in camp after the Patriots added to their wide receiver room in the offseason, per Zack Cox of the Boston Herald.
ANALYSIS
Boutte finished third on the team and second among Patriots wide receivers with 589 receiving yards in 2024 as part of arguably the league's worst wide receiver room. After the Patriots signed Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins while drafting Kyle Williams in the third round, Boutte will need to stand out in camp just to make the team. One factor working in Boutte's favor is that Diggs is recovering from a knee injury and may not be ready for the start of the regular season, which would necessitate the need to roster an additional wide receiver.
