Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Allen has bounced around the league over the past few seasons, and he joined the Steelers ahead of the 2024 campaign. Pittsburgh also acquired Russell Wilson and Justin Fields during the offseason, so Allen is unlikely to be in the mix for playing time under center if he makes the 53-man roster. Allen had some success as a starter for Carolina in 2019, passing for 3,322 yards, 17 touchdowns and 16 interceptions over 13 games, but he's been unable to secure consistent playing time since then, and he's a long shot to have a role in Pittsburgh in 2024. Allen (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against Washington.
ANALYSIS
Allen will serve as the Steelers' emergency quarterback Sunday. He will only see the field if both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields were to exit due to injury.

Kyle Allen joins the Bills as Josh Allen's (no relation) backup. The five-year veteran has started 19 games as a pro and his career totals include 26 touchdowns, 4,734 passing yards and a quarterback rating of 82.2. The newcomer started two games for the Texans last year but was rather unspectacular in a pair of losses. At this stage, the 27-year-old is the clear favorite for the second-string signal-caller assignment in Buffalo, but as such will only have fantasy value if Josh Allen misses any time.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could sneak onto 53-man roster
Allen has a good chance of making Pittsburgh's 53-man roster, as Mark Kaboly of The Athletic points out that the Steelers have historically opted to keep three quarterbacks.
ANALYSIS
Allen is unlikely to challenge Russell Wilson or Justin Fields for the top two spots on the depth chart, but Wilson's 35 years old and Fields missed four games due to a thumb injury last season. Therefore, Allen could offer a cheap insurance policy should the injury bug bite Pittsburgh's quarterback room. With 19 starts under his belt, Allen has enough experience to be a reliable stop-gap option if called upon, so the Steelers will likely keep him around after final cuts.
