2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Texans drafted Lachey in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft with an eye toward having a healthy, young body as insurance. Two tight ends injured during 2024 are back, but both Brevin Jordan (knee) and Cade Stover (collarbone) are on the mend. All three were behind starter Dalton Schultz in camp. Lachey was eventually released in the final cuts and resigned with Houston's practice squad. A new offensive coordinator, Nick Caley, may have a plan focused on running the ball more and could prefer Lachey's size (6-3, 251) as a blocker at some point during the regular season. Inks future deal with Houston

ANALYSIS
Selected by the Texans in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Lachey spent his entire rookie season on Houston's practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He was not elevated to the active roster, but he'll be part of the Texans' 90-man roster for the offseason and will be eligible to participate in OTAs in minicamp.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Latches on with Jets in Reuter mock
Friday's five-round mock draft from Chad Reuter of NFL.com has Lachey going to the Jets in the fifth round.
ANALYSIS
Lachey had 398 receiving yards and four touchdowns in 2022 but otherwise failed to top 231 yards in a season or score a touchdown during his college career. He nonetheless has some shine as a prospect coming out of Iowa, since that program has consistently pumped out quality tight ends in recent years, including George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson and Sam LaPorta. The Jets would be an intriguing landing spot for Lachey given their lack of a clear starter at the position.
