Nakobe Dean

24-Year-Old LinebackerLB
Philadelphia Eagles
2025 Fantasy Outlook
As is commonly the case in the Philadelphia defense, Dean had to pay his dues before finding himself on the field consistently. He logged a career-high 815 defensive snaps in 15 games in 2024 while also displaying elite traits as a run stopper. Per PFF, he logged a 13 percent run-stuff rate, second in the league among linebackers with at least 150 defensive snaps. That translated to nine tackles for loss and 128 total tackles. Two looming concerns prevent projecting a full breakout for Dean. First is that he is recovering from a torn patellar tendon that happened late in the 2024 campaign. He is likely to be ready for the start of the season, but Philadelphia will manage him carefully. Perhaps relatedly, the Eagles selected Jihaad Campbell with the 32nd pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Campbell could emerge to force Dean back into a modified rotational role. Read Past Outlooks

Tallies 12 stops in Week 13 loss
LBPhiladelphia Eagles
November 28, 2025
Dean posted 12 tackles (five solo) and a defensed pass Friday in a loss to the Bears.
ANALYSIS
Dean's tackle total was second highest on Philadelphia behind Reed Blankenship's 14. It was also by far Dean's best mark of the campaign; previously, his season-high mark had been seven in Week 10 against Green Bay. Dean had posted a sack in three straight contests coming into Friday, and though he couldn't extend that streak, he continues to be a viable IDP asset after missing the first five games of the campaign while recovering from a knee injury.

2022
After mostly being limited to special teams as a rookie in 2022, Dean got the chance to start in his second season. Unfortunately, it didn't last long, as he suffered a foot injury Week 1 and missed the next four games. He returned to play Week 6 before suffering another foot issue and missing the remainder of the campaign. He was a full participant in OTAs, and if his good health continues, he should be one of the Eagles' top inside linebackers in 2024.
Dean featured regularly on special teams as a rookie, but he played more than five defensive snaps only twice and never logged more than 15. Unsurprisingly, the 2022 third-rounder finished with just 13 tackles. Opportunities are available for Dean to claim a much larger role this year, however. The Eagles' top five leading tacklers - including linebackers T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White and their combined 269 tackles - all departed in free agency. Newcomer Nicholas Morrow should claim many of those, but the path is there for Dean to get his share.
Dean's draft slide became the story of Day 2 of the 2022 proceedings, as the Georgia linebacker -- who was expected to be an early second-round selection at worst -- fell all the way to the Eagles, who landed him 83rd overall. Evidently this was due to medical red flags related to a pectoral injury that prevented the linebacker from participating at the combine. If the medicals prove to be a non-issue, this is a strong value pick for Philadelphia. Dean was the quarterback of one of the best college football defenses in recent history. His game film showed that he is quick to diagnose plays and has the closing speed to find the ballcarrier and finish plays. Dean is on the smaller side for an inside linebacker at 6-foot and 225 pounds, but his football IQ and athleticism will help get him on the field once healthy.

Likely to miss start of 2025
LBPhiladelphia Eagles
January 13, 2025
Dean suffered a season-ending knee injury in Sunday's win over the Packers and isn't expected to recover in time for Week 1 of next season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The third-year linebacker had a breakout season for the Eagles, recording a career-high 128 tackles over 15 regular-season games before tearing the patellar tendon in his knee Sunday. Dean played only five games in 2023 due to multiple foot injuries, and his inability to stay healthy will likely prompt Philly to look for additional linebacker depth in the offseason. Oren Burks will take on a larger role in the middle of the Eagles defense for the remainder of their playoff run.
