2022 Fantasy Outlook
Vannett's first year in New Orleans was disappointing to say the least, as the tight end appeared in just seven games in 2021 and caught just nine of 15 targets for 133 yards and one touchdown. Considered more of a blocking specialist, Vannett will likely find it difficult to see much work in the passing game this season, especially since he finds himself behind Adam Trautman and Taysom Hill on the depth chart, while also battling with the likes of Juwan Johnson and Chris Herndon. Vannett played in nine regular-season games between the Saints and the Giants, finishing with four receptions on seven targets for 42 yards and no touchdowns.
ANALYSIS
Vannett began the campaign with New Orleans before latching on with New York's practice squad in late November. He eventually joined the team's active roster but saw limited action behind rookie starter Daniel Bellinger. Vannett's overall catch and yardage totals during the campaign were his lowest since his rookie season in 2016 with Seattle. Bellinger is the Giants' clear tight end of the future, so the team isn't likely to prioritize bringing back Vannett, who will be an unrestricted free agent.

After serving as a blocking specialist with Denver, Vannett seems likely to do the same in New Orleans. While someone will need to step up as a receiver with Michael Thomas recovering from ankle surgery, Adam Trautman seems more likely to be that guy amongst New Orleans' tight ends after putting up prolific numbers in college.
Vannett was a surprise addition in free agency given Denver's already crowded tight-end room. The Broncos have two young, athletic targets at the position in Noah Fant and Albert Okwuegbunam, so expect Vannett - who has just 61 career receptions - to mostly serve as an in-line blocker while garnering TE2-level snaps.
Vannett battled a back injury during the early portion of last season, and he was mostly inconsistent for the remainder of the campaign. In his third season, Vannett averaged fewer than two catches per game and reached paydirt just three times. He will be in a battle again for snaps with Will Dissly and Ed Dickson, and Dissly's upside is enough reason to keep Vannett off fantasy rosters.
A third-round pick in 2016, Vannett hasn't had much opportunity to do anything with the Seahawks, playing behind Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson the last two years. Graham and Willson are gone, leaving Vannett in spot where he can actually contribute this season. Seattle signed veteran Ed Dickson and drafted Will Dissly in the fourth round, but both of those tight ends are blockers first. At 6-5, 261, Vannett is the biggest of the trio. The Seahawks likely won't pass as much at the goal line this season, but when they do, Vannett could get his number called.
Vannett is expected to be the third tight end again this season. That doesn't mean much, though, with Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson around. Vannett caught three passes in nine games last season. Expect more of the same this season.
The Seahawks selected Vannett in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft with the hope that he'll provide additional run-blocking support, so he likely won't be used much in the passing game, thus limiting his fantasy value. Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson are the clear top-2 pass-catching options at tight end, but Vannett could boost the production of running back Thomas Rawls with his blocking power.
