Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Collins is increasingly discussed with the "when healthy" qualifier -- partially a result of missing multiple games every season so far, and partially a reflection of there not being anything else to criticize. A 2021 third-round pick with 4.43 speed in a 6-4, 215-pound frame, Collins broke out alongside QB C.J. Stroud in 2023 with an 80-1,297-8 receiving line in 15 regular-season games. While the rest of Houston's offense took a step back in 2024, the only hiccup for Collins' production was availability. He finished the regular season at 68-1,006-7 on 99 targets, despite missing five games with a hamstring injury and playing fewer than half of Houston's snaps in three others. Looking at his past two seasons, the cumulative production was impressive, the per-game numbers even better, and then the per-route/snap metrics yet another level above. Collins is one of three players in the past decade with multiple seasons of 3.0 yards per route or better, joined by Tyreek Hill and Julio Jones. Among Collins' current peers, only Hill and Ja'Marr Chase are comparable in terms of both YAC skills and deep-ball prowess. The Texans hired a new offensive coordinator (Nick Caley) this offseason before adding WRs Christian Kirk, Jayden Higgins (Round 2) and Jaylin Noel (Round 3), giving the offense a new look after WRs Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell both suffered ACL tears last season. The real challenge for Collins is to avoid, or at least minimize, the soft-tissue injuries that cost him seven full games and parts of five others over the past two seasons. Read Past Outlooks

Won't play Sunday
Collins (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's divisional-round game at New England.
ANALYSIS
Collins wasn't able to practice in any capacity this week following the concussion that he suffered during Monday's wild-card win in Pittsburgh. With their No. 1 WR out this weekend, the Texans will be rolling with Jayden Higgins, Christian Kirk, Xavier Hutchinson and Jaylin Noel as the primary options at the position. In order for Collins to have a chance to play again this season, Houston will need to advance to the AFC Championship Game on Sunday, Jan. 25.

The once-famous Year 3 breakout is far less common now that high-end WR production tends to happen either immediately or never, but Collins did in a big way last year, buoyed by rookie QB C.J. Stroud. The 2021 third-round pick never lacked for physical tools, coming out of Michigan with a 4.43 40-yard dash and 37.5-inch vertical at 6-4, 215. Production was another matter, with Collins totaling 1,388 yards and 13 TDs over three collegiate seasons in run-heavy offenses before opting out of a COVID-shortened senior campaign. He then had 446 yards in 14 games as a rookie and 481 yards in 10 games his second season, with injuries perhaps obscuring significant progress in terms of target-earning and per-game production from Year 1 to 2. Collins exploded for 428 yards and three TDs over the first four weeks of 2023, before tailing off a bit while rookie Tank Dell took the lead in Houston's passing game. Collins got hot again, and if not for calf injuries costing him two full games and all but three snaps of another, he might've gone north of 1,500 yards. He reached 80 yards in eight of the 13 games in which he played at least half of Houston's snaps, including totals of 195, 191, 168, 146 and 101. Collins finished third among WRs in yards per target (11.9) and yards per route (3.29), then added 164 yards on 17 targets in two playoff games. It was a resounding series of performances that leaves little doubt about Collins being a high-quality player, but his 2024 fantasy projection is less of a sure thing in light of the Texans' trade for Stefon Diggs. While the 30-year-old presumably won't be the same target hog he was in Buffalo, there's nonetheless a ton of competition for Stroud's attention in an offense that also has Dell, TE Dalton Schultz and RB Joe Mixon.

No practice through Thursday
Collins wasn't spotted at practice Thursday and remains in concussion protocol, DJ Bien-Aime of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Collins didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday after sustaining a concussion in Monday's wild-card win over the Steelers. He'll need to practice Friday to have any chance of clearing the NFL's five-step concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's AFC divisional round game against the Patriots. Collins will also need clearance from an independent neurologist to suit up Sunday.
