Let go by Bucs
The Buccaneers cut Laird on Monday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Laird was the fifth running back on Tampa Bay's depth chart, rendering this move relatively unsurprising. While he was unable to secure a role on the 53-man roster, it is still possible for him to get an opportunity on the team's practice squad. If that does not come to fruition, the 28-year-old will look for a fresh start elsewhere. He primarily played a depth running back role in Miami during his first three seasons.

Devonta Freeman couldn't lead the Ravens to a win, but he did assert himself as the lead back with season highs for snap share and targets, while fellow vet Latavius Murray barely played.

Chuba Hubbard didn't get many carries in Sunday's blowout loss, but it looks like he'll have a second run in the lead role with Christian McCaffrey ruled out for the season.

Laird has flashed in limited action before, but he's now facing steep competition for even depth touches. Barring injuries elsewhere in the backfield, the third-year pro will mostly be relegated to special teams work.
