Rest-of-Season Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Spillane's rise in the NFL is an interesting case. He was an early-down linebacker and special teams contributor in Pittsburgh, but graduated to a near full-time defensive role in Las Vegas. His work in coverage suggests that his best fit is limited to primarily being a run stuffer, but the three-year, $33 million contract that he signed with New England this offseason tells us that coach Mike Vrabel views Spillane as a core defensive player and culture setter as the Patriots seek to get back to their winning ways. Given Spillane's lack of effectiveness in coverage, there is downside to his projection, though the worst-case scenario is that he remains elite against the run and sees a slight dip in his tackle total if he's taken off the field on clear passing downs. DNP to open Week 18 prep
Spillane (ankle) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
ANALYSIS
Spillane has been inactive for each of the Patriots' last two games due to an ankle injury, though he's technically not played in three consecutive games after playing zero snaps while being active during the Patriots' Week 15 loss to the Bills. He also hasn't been able to practice since sustaining the injury in Week 14 against the Giants, so he's unlikely to play in Sunday's regular-season finale against the Dolphins unless he were to log at least a limited session over the next two days.

Spillane's 148 tackles (82 solo) paced the Raiders' defense by a wide margin in his first season with the team, but he also bolstered his IDP fantasy output with 3.5 sacks, four passes defensed, three interceptions, one forced fumble and a recovery in 17 games. A significant payday could be on the horizon for the former UDFA if he's able to replicate this production, given his current contract expires after the 2024 campaign. Regardless, Spillane is locked in as the starting middle linebacker for the silver and black this season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Won't play in Week 16
Spillane, who leads the Patriots with 97 tackles, has been ruled out for Sunday night's game against the Ravens due to a left ankle injury, Mike Reiss of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Spillane will essentially be logging his second consecutive absence, as he was active for the Week 15 loss to the Bills but didn't play. The veteran linebacker's absence was felt against Buffalo when it come to slowing down the run, and the Ravens present an equally formidable challenge considering their Derrick Henry-led ground attack and the fact they rank third in the league with 146.2 rushing yards per game.
