2025 Fantasy Outlook
At 5-foot-10, 202 pounds, Henderson may lack the frame to be a workhorse, but he should offset any usage limitations with speed (4.43 40) and pass-catching skills. Henderson and 2024 teammate Quinshon Judkins were both overqualified as they evenly split the workload for the National Champion Buckeyes, with Henderson's usage trending toward big-play and pass-catching setups while Judkins primarily worked between the tackles. It's possible Henderson will find a similar roadblock in New England from Rhamondre Stevenson and even Antonio Gibson, but both veterans are more fallible than Judkins, who was selected 36th overall by the Browns. Henderson went two picks later, 38th overall to the Patriots, after piling up 4,614 yards from scrimmage and 48 TDs in four seasons at OSU, where he twice led the Big Ten in yards per carry. It may not be long before Henderson jumps ahead of both Stevenson and Gibson on New England's depth chart. Read Past Outlooks

New England-bound in second round
The Patriots selected Henderson in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 38th overall.
ANALYSIS
Henderson is the fourth running back off the board and the second Ohio State back to be selected early in the second round after Quinshon Judkins went to Cleveland at 36th overall. A four-year player in Columbus, Henderson was an instant impact performer who rushed for 15 touchdowns as a true freshman. He battled through some injuries as a sophomore and junior and split work with Judkins during Ohio State's championship run in 2024. Henderson checks in at 5-foot-10 and 202 pounds with 4.43 speed that shows up on film with a number of long runs that earned him a label as a home-run hitter. His 75-yard touchdown catch against Texas in the College Football Playoff is a good snapshot of his ability to find space and turn on the jets. Paired with Rhamondre Stevenson, the Patriots now have a great 1-2 punch in the backfield.

Could eventually usurp Stevenson
Henderson, who Mike Clay of ESPN places in his Committee Back tier of rookie backs, could eventually overtake veteran Rhamondre Stevenson for the No. 1 job in New England.
ANALYSIS
The Patriots invested the 38th overall pick in Henderson during the 2025 NFL Draft after he led all running backs in his class with 7.1 yards per carry in 2024 while at Ohio State. Clay points out the 5-foot-10, 202-pound dimensions Henderson enters the NFL with could limit his carry total some initially. However, he also notes the rookie has "elite" pass-blocking skills and three-down ability that will make him a very good fit and potentially vault Henderson over Stevenson, who was benched for portions of the 2024 season for fumbling, as the 2025 campaign unfolds.
