GOALIE
Carter Hart, PHI vs. DET ($7,000): Admittedly, this is a big gamble. Scott Gordon will coach his first game and the highly-touted Hart will make his NHL debut. Named as the CHL's Goaltender of the Year two seasons in a row, Hart is considered to be the Flyers' goalie of the future, and he gets a less-than-intimidating matchup against the Wings. If Hart doesn't start, consider Devan Dubnyk ($7,800).
CENTER
Connor McDavid, EDM vs. STL ($8,200): Expected starter Jake Allen is having the worst season of his career and now faces the league's most dangerous even-strength player. McDavid has 15 points in eight games this month, his most productive so far, and in 10 career games against the Blues, he's scored nine points.
Steven Stamkos, TB at VAN ($7,200): He's been excellent in his career against the Canucks with 17 points in 12 games, and it'll be interesting to see how expected starter Jacob Markstrom plays during his current hot streak with five straight wins. After a slow start to the season, Stamkos has suddenly found his groove with 27 points in 23 games, and he remains a model of consistency with a 16.3 shooting percentage, which is right around his career average.
WING
Jeff Skinner, BUF vs. FLA ($7,000): Skinner scored 24 goals last season, and this season he's already matched that total before Christmas. Is a second-half fade coming given his sky-high shooting percentage and the Sabres' 10-game winning streak? Possibly, but for the time being, Skinner has been one of the best wingers in the league this season and carries a six-game point streak into the game.
Patrik Laine, WPG at LA ($6,800):Mark Scheifele's line will likely draw Drew Doughty, which opens up all sorts of possibilities for Laine. The Jets play fast and the Kings don't, and Laine's strong play since November has caused his ice time to creep up. He's an elite volume shooter who's dangerous on the power play going up against a team that ranks 28th on the penalty kill.
Sam Reinhart, BUF vs. FLA ($6,100): Reinhart seems like an afterthought this season, but quietly he's been producing at nearly a point-per-game pace with 32 points in 34 games. His scoring streak now sits at 10 games, and he's on pace to shatter his previous career high of 50 points. He's the cheapest option for those looking to have a top-line Sabre against the vulnerable Panthers.
DEFENSE
Brandon Montour, ANA at NYR ($5,000): He's quarterbacking the top power-play unit and playing tons of minutes on a depleted blue line. He's averaging 23 minutes a game this season but over 25 in December, and he has seven points and a plus-8 rating in the last seven games. The Rangers are expected to give Henrik Lundqvist a break, and their penalty kill ranks 26th in the league. Montour has a ton of upside and provides one of the better value plays tonight.
Jonas Brodin, MIN vs. SJ ($3,500): With Matt Dumba out of the lineup, Brodin gets an increased role on the power play even though Ryan Suter and Jared Spurgeon remain the top options. His offensive skills are limited, but the idea is that with more opportunities, he has a better chance at getting on the scoresheet. He'll continue to derive most of his value from blocked shots. Greg Pateryn is another cheap option whose role has expanded recently.
