This weekend, you may have been preoccupied with football, but now you have no excuse to ignore the NHL. There are six games on the slate for Monday, and here are my recommendations for your daily fantasy lineup.
GOALIE
Carter Hart, PHI vs. MIN ($7,400): Hart made his debut this season as the hottest goaltending prospect in the NHL. He's had his ups and downs since joining the Flyers, but he has a 2.54 GAA and .916 save percentage. Meanwhile, the Wild have a punchless offense on the road. They've only managed 2.45 goals per game in away contests.
CENTER
Nico Hischier, NJD vs. CHI ($5,800): As expected, the first overall pick from two summers ago has seen his minutes, and production, increase in his second season. He's got 31 points in 40 games, perhaps because he's started 55.2 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, most among Devils forwards. Now he's squaring off with a Blackhawks team that has a 3.62 GAA, second highest in the NHL.
David Krejci, BOS vs. MON ($5,200): Krejci has only nine goals on the season, but he's lit the lamp in each of his last two games. Plus, he has 26 assists in 45 games as well. As for the Canadiens, they have a 3.13 GAA on the road.
WING
Jeff Skinner, BUF at EDM ($7,300): With Jack Eichel back, Buffalo's top line is reunited. It must feel so good, as Skinner has a point in his last three games, and he now has 30 goals on the season. The Oilers have a 3.20 GAA, and even Mikko Koskinen, who had been outplaying Cam Talbot, has an .887 save percentage in his last nine outings.
Kyle Palmieri, NJD vs. CHI ($6,300): Last season, Palmieri managed 23 power-play points in only 62 games. This year, he's getting even more time with the extra man and has 12 power-play points in 44 contests. That bodes well for the 27-year-old in this matchup, as the Blackhawks have the 30th-ranked penalty kill.
Zach Hyman, TOR vs. COL ($4,200): Hyman has 16 points in 34 games, and he's got an assist and five shots on goal in two contests since returning from injury. More importantly, the winger skates on Toronto's top line with John Tavares and Mitch Marner, which boosts his fantasy potential. The Avalanche have been struggling defensively recently, and they have a 3.44 GAA on the road, bottom 10 in the NHL.
DEFENSE
Rasmus Ristolainen, BUF at EDM ($5,200): Ristolainen has tallied 27 points and 110 shots on net through 45 games. He's also averaged 3:24 per contest on the power play, notching 10 points in the process. The Oilers have a 3.20 GAA, and on top of that they have the 25th-ranked penalty kill as well.
Will Butcher, NJD vs. CHI ($3,700): Butcher isn't putting up the numbers he did in his rookie season, but he still has a few things going for him. For starters, he's started 59.1 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone, highest on the Devils. He's also averaged 3:26 per game with the extra man, and he does have nine power-play points. The Blackhawks have a 3.62 GAA, and the 30th-ranked penalty kill, so perhaps luck will be on his side in this one.
