FanDuel NHL: Tuesday Targets

SLATE PREVIEW

It's an 11-game slate for Tuesday with the Senators' games postponed until Nov. 20. The Lightning are the only team in the top 10 in points percentage who won't be playing Tuesday night, so there's plenty of elite players to choose from, though many face tough matchups.

GOALIES

Jack Campbell, TOR vs. NSH ($8,700): The Preds have been surprisingly good, but their margins have been pretty thin. They're 8-1-1 in their past 10 but three wins were secured in extra time and three more were decided by two goals or fewer, and according to naturalstattrick.com, rank first in PDO with 1.042 during that span. Their good fortune will end sooner or later, and the Leafs are a tough opponent with Campbell playing so well. That being said, Campbell is definitely not a value play as the most expensive goalie.

Sergei Bobrovsky, FLA vs. NYI ($8,600): The Isles are playing back-to-back after losing to the Lightning in Monday, and the Panthers won their first meeting 5-1 on Oct. 16. The Panthers have lost four straight, but two of them were in extra time and their goalie rotation was discombobulated with Bobrovsky getting hurt and Spencer Knight starting back-to-back. The Panthers are 7-0-0 at home while the Islanders have lost three straight with only three goals scored, and the feeling is that they're done with the road trip and already looking ahead to Saturday's home opener.

Igor Shesterkin, NYR vs. MON ($8,400): Shesterkin and Alexandar Georgiev will both be solid choices. The Habs have lost five of their past six and once already to the Rangers in October. They don't defend very well, they have no depth, they can't score and they don't have either their starting or backup goalie. The only way the Rangers lose is if their goalie doesn't play well.

Cam Talbot, MIN vs. SJ ($8,000): The Wild have won five of their past six while the Sharks have lost four of their past five and they've allowed at least four goals in four of their past five games. They have cooled off considerably since starting the season 4-0-0, while the Wild have emerged as one of the league's best teams.

Jordan Binnington, STL vs. ARI ($7,900): Somehow, facing the team on track to be the worst in the history of the NHL doesn't warrant a big premium. Binnington hasn't been sharp but the Coyotes have managed to score three goals or more only three times this season. Binnington should be a very popular pick.

Tristan Jarry, PIT vs. BUF ($7,500): To be fair to the Pens, the Caps are really good this season. They should bounce back after a 6-1 loss and Jarry has been excellent in his career against the Sabres, owning a 6-1-0 record with a .919 save percentage. The Sabres have some underrated offensive firepower so just be wary that this could be a high-scoring game.

Anton Khudobin, DAL vs. DET ($7,400): Khudobin should get the start after allowing just two goals against Philly and the Wings are coming off a defeat to Columbus on Monday. The Stars have only won once in regulation and have been unable to string together any wins, but they could turn it around with a favorable matchup. The Stars have lost just four times in their past 15 matchups dating back to 2017.

VALUE PLAYS

Nick Ritchie, TOR vs. NSH ($3,500): The Ritchie experiment gets the 2.0 treatment as Ritchie plays on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner. The results weren't great the first time, but the Leafs have won eight of their past nine after losing five of their first seven to start the season, and hopefully the results are better.

Kaapo Kakko, NYR vs. MON ($3,800): The thing about goal scorers is they tend to score in bunches, and it was about time Kakko scored his first of the season. With the Habs forced to dress their No. 3 and 4 goaltenders and a Rangers offense that is clicking again, expect Kakko to get quality chances. He'll play on a line with Ryan Strome and Artemi Panarin.

Frederick Gaudreau, MIN vs. SJ ($3,700): Offensively, Gaudreau's a bit of a black hole, but a dearth of centers has the Wild playing him nearly 18 minutes per game. The matchup should favor the Wild and by sheer volume, Gaudreau should at least to take advantage of team that's allowed 18 goals in their past five games. Ryan Hartman ($4,400) is on a tear and also an excellent value play, and both play on PP2.

LINE STACKS

Penguins vs. Sabres

Sidney Crosby (C - $7,700), Jake Guentzel (W - $7,200), Bryan Rust (W - $6,200)

It's hard to see Crosby slumping for long, and Guentzel should be snapping out of his funk soon with a below-average 10.3 shooting percentage. The Sabres shouldn't be a tough challenge and it's a team Crosby has fared well against in his career with 73 points in 50 games. Considering the upside of this line and the matchup, it's a strong value stack, too.

Blues vs. Coyotes

Ryan O'Reilly (C - $5,700), Jordan Kyrou (W - $6,100), Pavel Buchnevich (W - $5,300)

Buchnevich is slowly heating up with five points in his past four games while Kyrou has (amazingly) not slowed down at all. It's an excellent first line going up against the league's worst team. The only fear is the Blues getting out to a big early lead and then rolling four lines with everyone getting equal ice time – a fantasy manager's worst nightmare.

DEFENSEMEN

Kris Letang, PIT vs. BUF ($6,200): Plenty of elite defensemen to choose from, but Letang has been excellent lately with a goal and four assists in his past six games. He got a bit of a breather in blowout losses to Ottawa and Washington on back-to-back nights, and he should be a little more refreshed following some rest.

Tony DeAngelo, CAR at VGK ($5,200): When DeAngelo is playing well, few can match his offensive upside. He's been a steady offensive contributor on a talented team with a good power play, though the drawback is that he's more of a distributor than a shooter, which means very few power-play goals.

Filip Hronek, DET at DAL ($4,200): An assist Monday gives Hronek six helpers in seven games, and he's picked up his game dramatically after being a healthy scratch. The Stars defend well and their goalies are good, but only when they're playing well, otherwise they're a mediocre team that can't score goals to bail themselves out.

Scott Perunovich, STL vs. ARI ($3,500): A lot of attention will be on the former Hobey Baker winner, who may make his NHL debut Tuesday. Perunovich scored 20 points in 12 AHL games at the time of his call-up, and skated with Justin Faulk at practice. It remains to be seen what kind of role or minutes Perunovich will play, but he's got plenty of offensive upside and faces an opponent that will allow him to begin his NHL career on easy mode.
