2025 Fantasy Outlook
Kopitar led the Kings with 46 assists and finished second on the team with 67 points over 81 appearances in the 2024-25 regular season. He is the franchise leader in games played (1,454), assists (838) and game-winning goals (78) while sitting second with 1,278 points. The veteran forward has one more year left on his contract and could retire after the 2025-26 campaign. While he doesn’t fire pucks on the net as much as he used to, he has benefited from high shooting percentages in the last few seasons -- including a career-high 21.4 percent last year -- to help him top the 20-goal plateau. Kopitar could reach that mark again while registering 65-75 points. He is also a good source of blocks and faceoff wins. Kopitar is often a solid fantasy addition as a depth center. Scores in season-ending loss
Kopitar scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Oilers in Game 6.
ANALYSIS
Kopitar tallied with 55 seconds left in the third period to bring the Kings within one, but the Oilers held them at bay. Kopitar was not the problem this postseason, putting up two goals, seven assists, eight shots on net, eight hits, six blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over six outings. The 37-year-old center is entering the final year of his contract in 2025-26. While his surface numbers were excellent in 2024-25 with 21 goals and 67 points over 81 regular-season outings, a significant decline in shot volume (98) and a career-high shooting percentage (21.4) raise red flags for regression on offense even if he remains an elite defensive center.

How much more does Kopitar have left in him? That's a fair question to ask after the Kings captain celebrated his 37th birthday in August. Certainly, the numbers are encouraging. The center put forth another tremendous two-way season last year, recording 26 goals and 70 points in 81 contests while tying for fourth in Selke voting. If your league values faceoffs then all the better -- he won 859 of them for a success rate of 55.1 percent, making it his sixth consecutive campaign above 55 percent. He's also enjoyed great health throughout almost all of his career, which helps allay some of the concerns about his age. Still, Father Time catches up to us all, and while it wouldn't be shocking for Kopitar to again flirt with the 70-point milestone, there is an element of risk there.

Could retire after 2025-26 season
Kopitar will contemplate retirement after his upcoming two-year contract extension expires in 2026, according to Dan Greenspan of NHL.com.
ANALYSIS
Kopitar will have played 20 years in the NHL after completing the contract extension he signed in July 2023, and at the age of 38, that could be enough for the star center. Kopitar led the Kings to two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014. He had 26 goals and 70 points in 81 appearances during the 2023-24 regular season. However, it was only the second time since his rookie season that he did not lead the Kings in points.
