Rolls through Edson Barboza
LightweightUFC
December 6, 2025
Turner defeated Edson Barboza via TKO (punches) at 2:24 of Round 1 at UFC 323 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Turner announced his retirement following a first-round submission loss to Ignacio Bahamondes in March. He decided to return here and was given a layup of a matchup against an aging former big name in Barboza, and he took full advantage. Turner simply remained aggressive throughout the entire brief bout, and that ended up being more than enough to get Barboza out of there in short order. In fact, referee Herb Dean could have stopped the proceedings a handful of seconds earlier, and nobody would have batted an eye. Jalin is still just 30 years old and he has multiple ways to win, so retirement never made any sense at this stage.

Set to fight Barboza
LightweightUFC
October 22, 2025
Turner will fight Edson Barboza at UFC 323 on Dec. 6, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The 30-year-old lightweight has emerged victorious in just one of his last five fights -- his lone win coming against King Green back in December 2023. Turner will attempt to at least finish with a 1-1 record in 2025 against an opponent who has far more experience but has also gone multiple years without a UFC victory.
Falls to 1-4 in past five fights
LightweightUFC
March 8, 2025
Turner lost to Ignacio Bahamondes via submission (triangle choke) at 2:29 of Round 1 at UFC 313 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It goes without saying that Turner cannot be suffering first-round submission defeats at this stage of his career. Jalin actually found himself on top and in a dominant position a couple minutes into the fight, but he got lazy and left his neck exposed, which you can't do against a guy with legs as long as the 6-foot-3 Bahamondes. Ignacio clamped on the triangle choke, and Turner was forced to eventually tap. It's all fallen apart on the 29-year-old California native in the span of the last two years. Turner is just 1-4 in his past five fights, although two of those defeats came via split decision. Either way, Jalin is lightyears from the title picture in a loaded lightweight division. He appeared to announce his retirement after the fight and stood by that in the post-fight presser, though it's not uncommon for fighters of his age and caliber to walk back that decision after some extended time on the sidelines.
Bahamondes up next
LightweightUFC
February 16, 2025
Turner is scheduled to compete against fellow lightweight Ignacio Bahamondes at UFC 313 in Las Vegas on March 8, per Matthew Wells of MMAJunkie.com.
ANALYSIS
It will be under a year between Turner's previous and upcoming fights. The former saw him compete in the UFC's biggest pay-per-view that year and suffered a second-round TKO to Renato Moicano, who used said victory to get himself an eventual title shot against champion Islam Makhachev.
Crushing UFC 300 defeat
LightweightUFC
April 13, 2024
Turner lost to Renato Moicano via TKO (punches) at 4:11 of Round 2 at UFC 300 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
What a disaster. Entering as a -250 favorite, Turner, who spent a good chunk of Round 1 on his back, appeared to have this fight won after dropping Moicano in the closing seconds of the frame. Yet, he didn't follow up on his opportunity, perhaps thinking the fight should have been stopped, and it ended up costing him in a major way. Turner did some more good work early in the fight in Round 2 before once again being taken down. This time, he wasn't lucky enough to survive the round. Turner has now lost three of his past four fights, although two have come via split decision. He'll find himself in a must-win situation his next time out.
Set to face Renato Moicano
LightweightUFC
March 10, 2024
Turner is set to face Renato Moicano in a three-round lightweight bout at UFC 300 on April 13.
ANALYSIS
Turner will look to start a winning streak, as he defeated Bobby Green in his last event, but he was coming off back-to-back losses to Dan Hooker and Mateusz Gamrot before that. Turner has struggled to make weight in his previous two fights, and he hopes that won't be an issue ahead of meeting Moicano in this huge event.
