Rankings spot on the line
Pinheiro will take on Tecia Pennington in a strawweight matchup at UFC Vegas 106 on May 17, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite losing three in a row, Pinheiro remains on the fringes of the women's strawweight rankings, though that spot will be in jeopardy with a loss here. Pennington, on the other hand is coming of a decision victory over former champion Carla Esparza last October. Pinheiro will enter with slight height and reach advantages, in addition to being the more accomplished wrestler. The striking numbers, both offensively and defensively, land in the favor of Pennington.

Can't defend takedown in loss
Pinheiro lost to Gillian Robertson via unanimous decision (27-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
This fight played out exactly how most expected. Pinheiro was the crisper, more effective striker, but her inability to defend the takedown was her ultimate undoing. She was dragged to the mat in all three frames, but it was the first and final rounds in which she was truly overwhelmed. In between, she won Round 2 on all three scorecards. Robertson's game plan is no secret, but Pinheiro still didn't have a consistent answer. Set to turn 32 years of age in in nine days, Luana has lost three in a row and her roster spot would appear to be in serious jeopardy.

Slated to face Robertson
Pinheiro will take on Gillian Robertson in a Strawweight bout at a UFC event on Nov. 9th, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Pinheiro will look to bounce back, as she's dropped two straight UFC bouts. Her most recent defeat came at the hands of Angela Hill, who bested her with a Mounted Guillotine Choke in the second round of fight back in May. At 3-2-0, a loss would drop Pinheiro's record to .500 in the UFC. Her opponent Robertson, meanwhile, has won two straight and will look to push her streak to three.

Inconsistent ways continue
Pinheiro lost to Angela Hill via submission (guillotine choke) at 4:12 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The loss isn't as concerning for Pinheiro as the manner in which it happened. Known for her grappling game and facing an opponent in Hill that is typically a pure volume striker, Pinheiro fired off seven takedown attempts, landing just one of them. On the flip side, Angela connected on 2-of-6 tries, good for 3:06 worth of control time, eventually earning the submission win via guillotine choke late in Round 2 after grabbing ahold of Luana's neck and sitting down. The Brazilian has now lost back-to-back bouts via stoppage after winning her first three UFC fights via decision.

Scheduled against longtime veteran
Pinheiro is scheduled to compete against Angela Hill in a strawweight fight at the UFC's May 18 event, per Nolan King of USA Today.
ANALYSIS
Having begun her UFC career promisingly, Pinheiro took a step back during 2023. That year, she barely defeated Michelle Waterson-Gomez at UFC 287 and suffered her first finish at the hands of Amanda Ribas. Pinheiro will look to re-establish herself as a top strawweight in 2024, which can be done with an excellent win over one of the UFC's most tenured fighters, who has been finished only twice across her near-decade-long career.
