Winning streak snapped at four
Davis lost to Fares Ziam via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
ANALYSIS
Injured a good chunk of his UFC career, this felt like a fight Davis had to have, and he seemed unable to get out of first gear. Yes, he dealt with a bad cut and an eye poke, but Davis still struggled. He looked fine in the rare instances in which he was able to push the pace, but Ziam, far from a noted grappler, managed four takedowns for 7:11 worth of control time. That, combined with Davis being a bloody mess and totally exhausted, ensured the New Yorker wouldn't be emerging with the decision. The 32-year-old sees a four-fight winning streak snapped with the defeat.

Draws Ziam in Saudi Arabia
Davis will fight Fares Ziam at UFC Saudi Arabia on Feb. 1, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
A bicep injury has prevented Davis from fighting since March. Now fully healed, the 32-year-old lightweight will put his four-fight win streak on the line versus Ziam, who has also won four straight bouts and will have both height and reach advantages over Davis.

Out for UFC Denver
Davis will not fight Drew Dober at UFC Denver on July 13 because of a bicep injury, according to Nolan King of MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
Davis tore one of his biceps, an injury that will require surgery and could sideline him until 2025. Just two weeks after scheduling a fight with Dober, Davis may be in line for another long layoff.

Rolls in return from long layoff
Davis defeated Natan Levy via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 1:43 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Literally the only negative thing you can say about Davis these days is that he rarely fights. He cruised past Levy here without breaking a sweat despite the fact the latter missed weight by half a pound Friday morning. Davis was submitted by Gilbert Burns in his UFC debut back in April 2019. Since then, he has fought four times, all victories. Prior to this fight against Levy, the last time he stepped into the Octagon was October 2022. That makes this performance all the more impressive. To roll through a guy after not being in there for a year and a half is something else. Assuming Davis can get back in the Octagon sooner rather than later, the company needs to give him a top-15 opponent to see what it has here.
