Improves to 4-1 in past five fights
Wood defeated Daniel Pineda via unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-28) at UFC 304 on Saturday in Manchester, England.
ANALYSIS
Wood bounced back nicely from a unanimous decision defeat to Muhammadjon Naimov last October. Facing an aging opponent in Pineda, Wood landed some crushing blows throughout the course of the first ten minutes. The shots would have fallen any mere mortal, but Daniel managed to survive. Clearly up two rounds, a lock to win a decision and tiring, Wood took off the final frame, allowing Pineda to gain some momentum. It ultimately didn't matter. Wood is 4-1 in his past five fights dating back to July 2022, with each of the bouts going to the final bell.

Manchester bout on tap
Wood is scheduled to compete against Daniel Pineda in a featherweight fight at UFC 304 in Manchester on July 27, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
The English-born Wood will return to his home country for his next fight. But for the first time since 2017 and joining the UFC, he will compete outside London, in Manchester's new Co-Op Live arena. Wood will look to bounce back after a loss to Muhammadjon Naimov at UFC 294.

Crushing UFC 294 defeat
Wood lost to Muhammadjon Naimov via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 294 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
ANALYSIS
Wood by no means fought well in this fight, and his performance was highly disappointing given he entered as a -325 favorite, but it's easy to envision a scenario in which things may have gone differently. For starters, he ate two vicious low blows from Naimov. Referee Lukasz Bosacki absolutely should have taken a point, but didn't. Second, Wood had Naimov in all sorts of trouble in the closing moments of the fight and may very well have earned a stoppage if there were only a handful of additional seconds on the clock. Sadly for Wood, it wasn't meant to be. "The Prospect", who is now 30 years old, sees his three-fight winning streak snapped.

Gets new fight
Wood will take on Muhammadjon Naimov at UFC 294 on Oct. 21, MMAJunkie.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Wood is looking to stay hot after consecutive wins over Charles Jourdain, Charles Rosa and Andre Fili. He sports a 7-2 record overall in the UFC. His opponent, Naimov, is on a streak of his own, as he has one his previous four fights.

Picks up win in native England
Wood defeated Andre Fili via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
This was a tale of three separate fights. Wood nearly stopped Fili in Round 1 following some early struggles, while the latter turned the table in Round 2, easily winning the frame. With the bout up for grabs in Round 3, both men slowed considerably, but Wood's repeated low kicks, combined with one big right hand, were enough to earn him the decision. Wood has very fast hands and legitimate power, but he absorbs more damage on the feet than you would like to see from a striker. That said, it's impossible to argue with the results. Wood is 4-1 in his past five fights dating back to July 2020.
