His constant willingness to stand in the pocket and go blow-for-blow with his opposition seems to give him a chance most every time out. Dalby can get away with it given that he has yet to be stopped in 30 professional fights. He struggled a bit with the wrestling game of Fakhretdinov but did a decent job of not absorbing too much damage on the mat. Dalby appears to be the rare fighter that is legitimately improving with age. He will be 40 years old in November but looks better than ever. Dalby entered having won four in a row, and his roster spot is plenty secure despite this setback.

Entering as a +450 underdog in enemy territory, Dalby struggled in the early going, as expected. Yet as was also expected, he kept coming. Simply put, Dalby doesn't quit. He's not the most talented welterweight on the UFC roster, but guts and determination can go a long way. Dalby took everything Bonfim threw his way and continued to push forward. The latter eventually caved. Common sense would dictate this run is going to end for Dalby sooner rather than later, but then again, few thought he'd be in this position.
