Ulanbekov will not fight Joshua Van at UFC Vegas 93 on Saturday, according to MMA Junkie.
ANALYSIS
For the first time in his UFC career, Ulanbekov missed weight for a scheduled fight and did so badly. He stepped on the scales 3.5 pounds over the flyweight limit. 2024 is not even halfway done, and Ulanbekov has already experienced multiple fights scrapped this year.

Part of schedule shake-up
FlyweightUFC
May 14, 2024
Ulanbekov will now face Joshua Van in a flyweight matchup at UFC Vegas 93 on June 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Ulanbekov was originally supposed to face Alex Perez on the card, but Perez was bumped to a headline fight against Tatsuro Taira. Now, Ulanbekov will take on Taira's originally-scheduled opponent in Van. Ulanbekov is 4-1 in the UFC and most recently beat Cody Durden via second-round submission in December. Van is 3-0 with the company and has the edge in volume striking over Ulanbekov, albeit over a small sample size. Ulanbekov will look to counter that difference with a wrestling-heavy approach.
Will face Perez

Ulanbekov is scheduled to compete against Alex Perez in a flyweight fight at UFC Vegas 93 on June 15, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Perez went out of the UFC Vegas 91 main event relatively unscathed after knocking out Matheus Nicolau. Apparently wanting to take advantage of his full health and hot momentum, the former will partake in his initial fight scheduled against Ulanbekov.
Won't be facing Perez
FlyweightUFC
April 2, 2024
Ulanbekov won't face Alex Perez in the UFC Las Vegas event on June 15 since Perez has been added to the main event of UFC Vegas 91 on April 27, Danny Segura and Nolan King of MMA Junkie report.
ANALYSIS
Perez has been called up as the replacement of Manel Kape in the fight against Matheus Nicolau, meaning Ulanbekov will now have to find a new opponent for the Vegas event scheduled for June. Whoever faces Ulanbekov will be stepping into the octagon against an opponent who has won his last two fights due to submission.
Scheduled against Alex Perez

March 21, 2024
Ulanbekov is scheduled to compete against Alex Perez in a flyweight fight for the UFC's June 15 event at Las Vegas, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
With a submission win in each of his last two fights, Ulanbekov is being rewarded with a relatively favorable but still tricky challenge. A win over Perez, who has not won a fight since 2020 and is on a three-fight losing streak, likely puts Ulanbekov among the UFC's top 10 contenders at flyweight.

Ulanbekov defeated Cody Durden via submission (face crank) at 4:25 of Round 2 at UFC 296 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Considering he was going up against a tough, scrappy opponent, this was arguably Ulanbekov's best performance with the UFC. He dominated Durden from bell-to-bell, showing off his striking and grappling game. Tagir isn't known for his power, but he managed to knock Cody down in Round 1, which helped get his wrestling game going. The end result was Ulanbekov landing both of his takedown attempts for 6:03 worth of control time. The finish finally materialized late in Round 2. There's room for immediate advance in the UFC's flyweight division, and Ulanbekov, with victories in four of his first five fights with the company, seems like a prime candidate to take advantage of the opportunity.
