Barnes had a better second season with Newcastle than his first, breaking double-digit goal contributions thanks to more time on the pitch. He finished with nine goals and four assists, and at one point made the score sheet in six straight contests. While a lot of his playing time came when Anthony Gordon was injured, he remained in the XI at the end of the season due to his positive form. Still, despite starting the final 12 contests of the season, there isn't a guarantee he'll be in the XI to open 2025/26. With everyone healthy, Barnes could be on the bench in more of a super-sub role to open.
