Rodri only had a small sample after an ACL tear left him sidelined for nearly the entire campaign. He returned for the final few games and saw even more time during the Club World Cup, so the thought is that he'll be close to 100 percent for the start of 2025/26. If that's the case and he remains fit, he could hold his usual midfield role the majority of the season with 30-plus starts in play. At his peak a couple years ago, he was frequently involved in goals, totaling eight goals and nine assists. It's hard to see him being near those numbers this season, but as long as he's on the pitch, he'll have the ball near the top of the box and good things usually happen for City in those instances.
Could return in week
Rodri (hamstring) could return against Nottingham Forest on Dec. 27 or Sunderland on Jan. 1st, coach Pep Guardiola said in the press conference. "We have five days, then for Nottingham [Forest] and Sunderland, maybe a few of them [Bobb, Stones, Rodri] start to be back."

This is great news for the Citizens given the massive importance of the former Ballon d'Or in the system of coach Pep Guardiola. Having Rodri back to full fitness will bring equilibrium to the team and allow the frontline to play with more freedom. Rodri (hamstring) is looking sharper and training well but remains out for the time being, assistant coach Kolo Toure said in the press conference. "He's training well and his rehab is going well. He's looking sharper and sharper. For sure we won't see him for the weekend but he's going through the process."
