Sean Johnson
36-Year-Old
D.C. United
MLS
2025 Fantasy Outlook
Johnson's second season in Toronto was worse than his first, allowing 19 more goals while making 19 more saves and keeping the same amount of clean sheets. Despite missing time for various reasons throughout 2024, he still made 25 starts, five more than 2023. The veteran keeper was towards the bottom of the league in terms of saves and clean sheets, but he was also middle of the pack in goals conceded despite Toronto struggling as a team. Johnson is unlikely to be much more than a streaming option in goal for fantasy managers in 2025 unless Toronto significantly improve.
Joins D.C. United
Johnson joined D.C. United as a free agent and signed a one-and-a-half-year contract through June 2027, the club announced. "Sean is an experienced and proven goalkeeper who has consistently performed at a high level throughout his career. He brings valuable international experience having represented the U.S. Men's National Team, and his leadership and competitive mentality will elevate our entire team. Sean is a proven winner having won the 2021 MLS Cup with New York, and we look forward to welcoming him to the Black-and-Red family," said Dr. Erkut Sogut, D.C. United Managing Director of Soccer Operations.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might leave NYCFC
Johnson might not play for New York City FC during the 2023 MLS season, according to Tom Bogert of MLSSoccer.com.
ANALYSIS
Johnson and NYCFC are talking regarding a new contract, but no real progress has been made so far. Losing Johnson would be a huge blow for NYCFC since they don't have a goalkeeper that's ready to replace him straight away in their current roster.
