DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Division Semi-Final Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

Quarterback

Mike Reilly, EDM at WPG ($10,900): Reilly scored 31.64 and 25.64 fantasy points in two games against the Blue Bombers this season, and he should be primed for another explosive outing in the Semi-Final round. Winnipeg was vulnerable to the passing game all season, allowing the most passing touchdowns (33), most pass yards per game (321.6), second-highest average yards per pass (8.5) and third-most completions (460). Reilly scored no less than 22.74 fantasy points in his last nine games of the season, making him one of the most reliable cash or tournament options in the first week of the playoffs.

Matt Nichols, WPG vs. EDM ($9,700): Nichols -- assuming he plays -- is likely going to have to remain aggressive in order to keep pace with Reilly, and he notably compiled his season high in yardage (390) versus the Eskimos in Week 9, an outing in which he generated 30.9 fantasy points. Nichols racked up an impressive 10:3 TD:INT in nine home games this season while completing 70.4 percent of his throws, and while the Eskimos were fairly stingy against the pass all season, they did allow the third-highest completion percentage (69.0), along with 25 passing touchdowns.

Running Back

Andrew Harris, WPG vs. EDM ($8,100): Harris tailed off over the last few games of the season, but he should play a sizable role in the Blue Bombers' postseason plans. Harris posted 35.5 and 28.5 fantasy points in his two meetings versus the Eskimos this season, and he faces an Edmonton defense that finished the campaign tied with the Alouettes for most rushing touchdowns allowed (19). They also slotted behind only Montreal in rushing yards surrendered per contest (98.1), along with surrendering the highest average yards per rush (5.9) and most runs of over 20 yards (13). Harris averaged 21.0 fantasy points over nine home contests, and despite the aforementioned downturn during the stretch run, amply demonstrated more than enough tournament-worthy upside this season to make him a top play on the small slate.

William Powell, OTT vs. SSK ($7,800): Powell averaged 19.7 fantasy points in five home contests this season, and he closed out the regular campaign with a career-high 34.3 fantasy points versus the Tiger-Cats in Week 19. He'll check into Sunday's semi-final with two weeks of rest and ready to roll for a matchup versus a Riders squad that allowed the fourth-most rushing yards (96.3) per game and second-most rushing attempts (340), and that he tore through for a season-high 187 yards in Week 15. Given his sizable share of the Redblacks' offense (double-digit carries in nine of 11 games played) and penchant for explosive efforts, Powell is worth the investment Sunday.

C.J. Gable, EDM at WPG ($7,500): Gable was impressive at the tail end of the season with the Eskimos, scoring between 16.5 and 31.7 fantasy points in four of his last five games. Notably, the Blue Bombers allowed the third-most rushing yards per game (96.7), second-most rushes of 20 or more yards (11) and third-most rushing touchdowns (17) in 2017. The Eskimos have also encouragingly showed a willingness to involve Gable through the air since his arrival, with his best receiving day of the season (four catches, 55 yards) coming in Week 20 and a three-catch, 32-yard effort in Week 17 against the Argonauts also representing one of his more productive days in the passing game on the campaign.

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Brandon Zylstra, EDM at WPG ($9,700): Zylstra tore up the Blue Bombers secondary for nine receptions and 152 yards in his one meeting this season, a performance that netted 29.4 fantasy points. He crossed 20 fantasy points on six occasions and 30 in another four contests, making him one of the best GPP options throughout the regular season. Nothing changes as we enter the postseason, particularly considering the Bombers' considerable weaknesses against the pass that were detailed earlier in Reilly's entry. It's also worth noting that Zylstra was even more productive on the road, averaging 22.4 fantasy points and 19.1 yards per reception in seven contests.

Diontae Spencer, OTT vs. SSK ($8,600): Spencer's diverse skill set led to multiple explosive outings this season. Those included two 40 fantasy-point tallies, along with five other games with more than 20. Spencer posted 17.25 fantasy points against the Roughriders in Week 17 and closed out the regular campaign with a season-high 42.45 fantasy points versus the Tiger-Cats in Week 19, providing a glimpse at his upside. The Riders also allowed a total of five return touchdowns this season, and although their numbers against the pass were serviceable, the sheer volume of touches that Spencer typically sees in his multiple roles afford him a strong chance of returning good-to-excellent value.

Weston Dressler, WPG vs. EDM ($7,500): Darvin Adams has already been ruled out for Sunday's contest with an upper-body injury, leaving Dressler as the clear-cut top option for Matt Nichols in the passing game. Dressler didn't play in either one of the Blue Bombers' regular-season contests against the Eskimos this season, but he brings plenty of tournament upside, having scored between 20.9 and 35.6 fantasy points in three games this year. As mentioned earlier, the Eskimos were tough versus the pass throughout the season, but Dressler should see an abundance of targets in what could well be a high-scoring affair.

Caleb Holley, SSK at OTT ($5,800): Holley brings the deep speed that has tended to give the Redblacks' secondary problems this season, making him a modestly-priced tournament option. The speedster put together a nice run in the last quarter of the season, scoring between 13.6 and 17.3 fantasy points in three games between Weeks 16 and 19. Meanwhile, the Redblacks allowed the third-most passing yards (316.6), fourth-most touchdowns through the air (29) and fourth-most completions (455), furthering Holley's case.

Team Defense

Ottawa Redblacks vs. Saskatchewan Roughriders ($4,800): The Redblacks posted 11.0 fantasy points against the Roughriders in Week 17, racking up two sacks, two interceptions and a defensive touchdown. Ottawa was actually a better defense on the road during the regular season, but they should be poised to take the intensity up a notch in front of the home crowd in the opening game of the postseason. The Roughriders have had trouble deciding on who to deploy behind center, rotating Kevin Glenn and Brandon Bridge often during the last several games of the regular season. That's usually not a recipe for long-term success, and it's also worth noting that Saskatchewan allowed the third-most sacks (44) and ran the second-fewest plays per game from scrimmage (54.1) in 2017.
