DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Week 20 Value Plays

DraftKings CFL DFS Picks: Week 20 Value Plays

This article is part of our DraftKings CFL DFS Picks series.

Quarterback

Jeremiah Masoli, HAM vs. OTT ($11,700): Masoli racked up 29.08 fantasy points versus the Redblacks in Week 19, getting there with the help of 342 passing yards and three touchdowns. It was just the latest spectacular stat line for the veteran, who's now eclipsed 30 fantasy points in three of his past seven games, and over 20 in another two during that span. He gets another crack at the Redblacks defense this week, and although Brandon Banks' season-ending collarbone injury brings down Masoli's ceiling somewhat, he'll still be in a good matchup versus an Ottawa squad that's allowed the second-most passing touchdowns (26), along with a robust 8.1 yards per attempt, a 64.6 completion percentage and 27 completions of over 30 yards.

Trevor Harris, OTT at HAM ($10,500): That said, Harris is an intriguing candidate as well on the other side of the matchup, given the fact he just lit up the Ti-Cats secondary for 341 yards and a touchdown, resulting in 22.94 fantasy points. Harris boasts an impressive 10:5 TD:INT on the road as well over eight games, and he's eclipsed 300 passing yards in four of the last five contests overall. While Hamilton's pass defense metrics are solid across the board, Harris' recent body of work and his performance against them in Week 19 puts him firmly in play.

James Franklin, TOR at MTL ($9,800): Franklin has now thrown for 569 yards and two touchdowns while adding another pair rushing scores over his current two-game starting stint. Part of those numbers were compiled in a Week 19 matchup against this same Alouettes squad, when he threw for 277 yards, rushed for 43 and compiled 19.38 fantasy points overall. Montreal has typically been the CFL's most porous pass defense throughout the 2018 season, a vulnerability that Franklin took advantage of last week. Given the fact the Als give up a CFL-high 310.6 passing yards per game and the second-most rush yards (111.6) per contest, Franklin remains firmly in play in Week 20.

Running Back

William Powell, OTT at HAM ($7,900): Game script wreaked havoc on Powell's production two contests ago against the Eskimos, leading to just nine rushes and 40 yards. He bounced back with a 21-87 line in Week 19 against this same Ti-Cats squad, but a lost fumble left him with a single-digit fantasy-point tally (9.7) for the second straight game. However, he continues to be a serious consideration if you're paying up in Week 20, as Hamilton continues to allow the third-most rushing yards (108.3) per game, along with the second-highest rushing yards per carry (5.6) and most runs over 20 yards (15).

Tyrell Sutton, BC at SSK ($7,500): Sutton continues to thrive in his new BC digs, as he's now racked up 106 and 97 rushing yards against the Stampeders and Eskimos, respectively, over the last two games. Sutton has yet to be fully incorporated into the passing game with the Lions, but his pass-catching prowess is unquestioned from his days in Montreal. While the Riders have been stingy versus the run, Sutton's apparently locked –in workload and body of work thus far in BC keeps him viable in Week 20 despite the price hike.

Don Jackson, CGY at WPG ($6,200): Jackson has been relatively quiet over the last several games, as he hasn't topped 54 yards on the ground since Week 12. He continued to enjoy a steady role in the passing game in addition to what is typically a double-digit carry tally, however, and the Blue Bombers shape up as an appealing Week 20 target. Winnipeg has allowed 5.1 yards per rush and the second-most rushing touchdowns (17) in the CFL, along with 10 runs of over 20 yards.

Brandon Burks, TOR at MTL ($6,100): Burks has actually seen a $300 price drop from Week 19 despite the fact he turned in a solid 16.9 fantasy points against this same Montreal squad. Burks has yet to log double-digit carries during his starting stint, and the fact quarterback James Franklin tends to vulture rushing touchdowns is a turnoff. However, the 24-year-old is highly efficient on a per-touch basis, and he's also posted back-to-back four-catch games while also scoring once through the air in that stretch. The Als are giving up the second-most rushing yards ( 111.6) per game, the third-most rushes of over 20 yards (12) and the third-most rushing touchdowns (16).

Wide Receiver/Slotback

Luke Tasker, HAM vs. OTT ($9,800): Tasker takes center stage in Week 20 in the wake of teammate Brandon Banks' collarbone injury, and he's well-equipped to handle the task of No. 1 receiver. The sure-handed veteran already has another 1,000-yard season in hand, and he's boasting a career-high 11 touchdowns. Moreover, he's been especially productive over the last two games, including in Week 19 against this same Redblacks squad when he accrued 25.0 fantasy points on the strength of a 7-70-2 line. Given the amount of targets he should see in the Ti-Cats' pass-happy attack, he's worth it if you decide you're paying up at receiver.

Eric Rogers, CGY at WPG ($8,100): Rogers carries some nice upside himself at quite a savings off Tasker, and he's coming off a solid 11.4 fantasy-point effort versus the Roughriders in Week 19 versus the Riders, and he'll be poised for greater success against the Bombers. Winnipeg has allowed the second-most completions (364) and pass attempts (561), along with the third-highest completion percentage (64.9). Given the generally injury-depleted nature of the Stamps' receiving corps, Rogers should be a primary target for Bo Levi Mitchell in Week 20.

Armanti Edwards, TOR at MTL ($7,800): The Lions' Bryan Burnham ($7,700) is also an interesting pivot here at $100 cheaper, but Edwards holds plenty of appeal himself. After enduring some inconsistent quarterback play following Ricky Ray's season-ending injury in the early portion of the campaign, Edwards has finally started generating some of the production he's proven capable of in past seasons. The veteran is coming off a six-catch, 106-yard performance versus the Als in Week 19 that netted 20.2 fantasy points, and he'd also managed a solid 5-61 line versus the Ti-Cats the game prior. Given the Als' considerable weakness through the air alluded to earlier in Franklin's entry, Edwards shapes up as an appealing selection in the upper mid-tier.

DeVier Posey, BC at SSK ($6,500): A former Argo and teammate of Edwards that's also been making some noise is Posey, who tallied five receptions for 113 yards and a whopping three touchdowns against the Eskimos in Week 19, leading to 37.3 fantasy points. The veteran receiver's matchup isn't the easiest against the Riders, but he's a main target of quarterback Travis Lulay and also has the speed to take advantage of Saskatchewan's vulnerability to the big play -- coming into Week 20, the Riders check in having allowed the third-most completions of over 30 yards (28).

Team Defense

BC Lions at SSK ($4,200): The Lions come in very fairly priced for a unit that's averaging a solid 8.2 fantasy points per game, and that's scored 15.0 to 30.0 fantasy points in three of their past four games. The Lions' defensive metrics are generally solid and in the top half of the league in the majority of categories, but they've been elite on both the interception and sack front. BC leads the CFL with 21 picks and have the fourth-most points off turnovers (106) as well. Moreover, they've amassed a league-high 44 sacks (tied with Edmonton). Meanwhile, the Riders have thrown the third-most interceptions (18) and have the second-lowest net offensive yards (325.0) and plays from scrimmage (54.5) per game. Given their overall lack of firepower and the Lions' ability to both pressure and pick off the quarterback, they shape up as a strong value defense in Week 20.
