Buffalo Bills: Team Draft Needs

This article is part of our NFL Draft Team Needs series.

Team Draft Picks (7)

Round 1 (8)
Round 2 (41)
Round 3 (71)
Round 4 (105)
Round 5 (143)
Round 6 (177)
Round 7 (228)

1. Quarterback

Kevin Kolb, Tarvaris Jackson, Aaron Corp. Enough said. General manager Buddy Nix hasn't been shy about his desire to take a quarterback – the key here will be whether they reach or sit patiently.

Potential targets

First round

Geno Smith, West Virginia
Ryan Nassib, Syracuse
E.J. Manuel, Florida State

Second round

Matt Barkley, Southern Cal
Mike Glennon, North Carolina State

Third round

Zac Dysert, Miami (OH)
Matt Scott, Arizona
Tyler Wilson, Arkansas

Fourth round

Landry Jones, Oklahoma
Tyler Bray, Tennessee

Fifth through seventh rounds

Sean Renfree, Duke
Colby Cameron, Louisiana Tech

2. Wide receiver
Steve Johnson is a capable option, and T.J. Graham has the ability to stretch defenses. But Graham isn't ready for the second wideout role. An upgrade at this position would give whoever is under center plenty of options, and pair nicely with the running back tandem of C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson.

Potential targets:

First round

Tavon Austin, West Virginia
Cordarrelle Patterson, Tennessee
DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
Justin Hunter, WR, Tennesee

Second round

Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech
Robert Woods, Southern Cal
Keenan Allen, California

Third round

Markus Wheaton, Oregon State
Da'Rick Rogers, Tennessee Tech
Chris Harper, Kansas State

Fourth Round

Terrance Williams, Baylor
Josh Boyce,

3. Cornerback

Stephon Gilmore looks like a future standout at one of the two starting corner spots, but teams should aspire to have at least three good cornerbacks, and Buffalo falls short of that mark. It would be best for the team to plan as if Aaron Williams and Leodis McKelvin will not be reliable contributors in those roles.

Potential targets:

First round

Dee Milliner, Alabama
Xavier Rhodes, Florida State

Second round

D.J. Hayden, Houston
Jamar Taylor, Boise State
Desmond Trufant, Washington
Robert Alford, Southeastern Louisiana
Sanders Commings, Georgia
Blidi Wreh-Wilson, Connecticut
Darius Slay, Mississippi State

Third round

B.W. Webb, William & Mary
Tharold Simon, LSU
Johnthan Banks, Mississippi State
David Amerson, North Carolina State

Fourth round

Leon McFadden, San Diego State
Dwayne Gratz, Connecticut
Tyrann Mathieu, LSU
Jordan Poyer, Oregon State
Will Davis, Utah State
Terry Hawthorne, Illinois

Fifth through seventh rounds

Adrian Bushell, Louisville
Rod Sweeting, Georgia Tech
Nickell Robey, USC
Logan Ryan, Rutgers
