Preview:

The 17th match of the Caribbean Premier League 2019 will see St Lucia Zouks take on Barbados Tridents in Gros Islet. Both teams standing at the fourth and fifth position in the table with just one win so far from their campaign. A win here will not make much difference in the table but, could boost their confidence for their remaining matches.

St Lucia Zouks have beaten Barbados Tridents twice last season however, they have played one game extra than Tridents this season but, the time is running as they need to start winning matches hereafter to qualify for the play-offs.

Barbados Tridents, meanwhile, has some big high profile players on their side where they averagely scoring around 150-160 runs but, their bowlers letting down so they are still stuck with just one win however, they still have seven matches to go which could reduce some pressure from them.

Pitch report: Gros Islet pitch has produced 200-plus scores on three occasions in the 2018 CPL season. Moreover, the average 1st innings score at this venue is around 160 with some support for the fast bowlers.

St Lucia Zouks

Probable Playing XI:

St Lucia Zouks:

After winning a match against Jamaica Tallawahs, St Luci Zouks made some changes in their batting order in their last match against the Patriots but it didn't go well as expected so, they should return to their original combinations. However, the only change we expect in the playing xi is Colin Ingram coming in for Thisara Perera, who will not take further part in CPL 2019.

Predicted XI: Andre Fletcher (WK), Rahkeem Cornwall, Roland Cato, Colin Ingram, Kavem Hodge, Colin de Grandhomme, Darren Sammy (C), Hardus Viljoen, Kesrick Williams, Obed McCoy, Fawad Ahmed

Barbados Tridents:

Tridents have stuck to their same playing XI for the past two matches and we expect the trend to continue while, Jean-Paul Duminy and Leniko Boucher have produced some standout performance against the Patriots, however, they need some assistance from the bowlers to register their second victory.

Predicted XI: Johnson Charles, Alex Hales, Leniko Boucher (WK), Jean-Paul Duminy, Jason Holder (C), Jonathan Carter, Ashley Nurse, Roshon Primus, Hayden Walsh, Josh Lalor, Sandeep Lamichhane

Top Picks:

Wicket-keeper: Andre Fletcher (9.5 credits)

The explosive opener is the second leading run-scorer for his side with 82 runs in four innings moreover, he did get a start in each innings but couldn't convert into big. However, if he survives early overs he could score big.

Batsman: Alex Hales (10 credits)

The former No.1 T20I batsman seems to be struggling for form, in past few matches he has shown some positives signs of returning to the form. Moreover, his prowess against spin makes him a good pick and could be a differentiator for this game.

All-rounder: Jean-Paul Duminy (9.5 credits)

Duminy has been excellent with the bat so far for Tridents where he scored 94 runs in just three matches at an average of 47 but went wicketless with the ball moreover, he has the potential to pick up a wicket or two and is why you shouldn't ignore him for this game.

Bowler: Obed McCoy (9 credits)

McCoy features in the top five leading wicket-taker with seven wickets to his name in four matches at an economy of 8.42, but also the best bowler by a distance for Zouks. Early wickets remains a problem for him, but that shouldn't be the case as he claimed more wickets at the death.

Captain options: Jean-Paul Duminy, Colin de Grandhomme
