2025 Fantasy Outlook
Warren got a lot of his playing time in passing situations the past three seasons, but Najee Harris' departure this offseason may have opened the door for a new role. Warren played that role behind Harris not because he couldn't do more but because the Steelers had already decided on Harris as their starter and bruiser. Warren thrived coming out of the bullpen, but before he was a passing-down back for the Steelers, he was a workhorse at both Oklahoma State and Utah State. He has an unusually stout frame at 5-foot-8, 215, and that anchor allows his feet to stay gripped to the ground while grinding through traffic. He'd be one of the league's slowest lead backs in terms of straight-line speed -- he ran a 4.55 40 in 2022, at a lighter weight of 204 -- but there are no other discernible weaknesses in his game, and the combination of pass-game skills and a stout build suggests he can stay on the field for all situations. The addition of rookie third-round pick Kaleb Johnson is a major complication, though not necessarily a death sentence for Warren's chances of becoming a starter. At 6-1, 224, Johnson looks similar to Harris and might even prove to be a better runner, but he'll first need to overcome the usual assortment of obstacles that can limit a talented rookie's playing time. Should Johnson struggle to acclimate, Warren appears capable of filling a workhorse role. Read Past Outlooks
RANKS
Just under 50 total yards Monday
Warren rushed 12 times for 43 yards and brought in his only target for four yards in the Steelers' 30-6 wild-card loss to the Texans on Monday night.
ANALYSIS
Warren doubled up backfield mate Kenneth Gainwell in carries while outgaining him by 23 rushing yards. Despite a modest night against the elite Texans defense, the versatile Warren finished the 2025 regular season having posted career highs in rush attempts (211), rushing yards (958) and rushing touchdowns (six) while adding a 40-333-2 line on 45 targets, 205 kickoff-return yards and one fumble that stayed with Pittsburgh across 16 games. Warren is under contract through the 2027 season and should once again play a prominent role in the ground attack next season.

It's not easy for an off-the-bench running back to provide mainstream fantasy football utility, but Warren showed the ability last season to provide regular flex production or better even while starter Najee Harris took most of Pittsburgh's rushing workload. Warren was especially strong in PPR scoring, catching 61 of 74 targets to boost an otherwise modest rushing total of 784 yards and four touchdowns (on 149 carries). One thing to keep in mind is that while Harris remains an obstacle for Warren's rushing production, Warren may be able to handle a workhorse role if he's ever called to serve in one. At 5-8, 215, Warren is able to get the better of most collisions, and he even took 281 touches during his final collegiate season at Oklahoma State. The Steelers figure to remain run-heavy in 2024 after hiring offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and using their first two draft picks on linemen, so they'll need to feature Warren extensively even when Harris is healthy and effective.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Facing depleted Bears D
Warren, who has no injury designation heading into Sunday's Week 12 matchup against the Bears after dealing with an ankle issue earlier in the week, will be facing a defense missing its three starting linebackers, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Warren was able to progress from non-participant Wednesday to a limited session Thursday and a full practice Friday to avoid an injury tag. The fourth-year-pro, who's averaging 5.1 yards per carry over his last five games, will be in prime position to capitalize on the short-handed nature of a defense that's already proven vulnerable to the run even at full strength, as all of Tremaine Edmunds, T.J. Edwards and Noah Sewell will be sidelined due to groin, hand and elbow injuries, respectively.
