QUARTERBACK
Jimmy Garoppolo, SF at KC ($7,400) – Patrick Mahomes ($8,900) will be the chalky pick this week in cash, but using Garoppolo is an excellent contrarian GPP play. The idea here is if it turns into a shootout (of which the Chiefs are two-for-two), Garoppolo may have a large volume of pass attempts to put points on the board. He should have back speedster Marquise Goodwin, and George Kittle should see more action than he did in Week 2. A stack of Jimmy G, George Kittle ($5,800), with both/or either Marquise Goodwin ($5,800) and Pierre Garcon ($5,600) seems like a good GPP play.
RUNNING BACK
Kareem Hunt, KC vs. SF ($7,900): Both David Johnson ($8,200) and Hunt are in good spots this week with the latter being a sneaky choice for those fading Mahomes this week. Without a doubt, Mahomes has been fantastic, but there will be weeks that Hunt scores rushing touchdowns and Mahomes doesn't throw for multiple touchdowns. While two games is a small sample, the 49ers are giving up 4.3 yards per carry and over 100 rushing yards per game.
Latavius Murray, MIN vs. BUF ($5,200): While a lot of using Murray depends on the availability of Dalvin Cook, Murray could be useful even if Cook plays. The Bills are huge underdogs (+16.5), and it would make sense if the Vikings rested their star running back once the game gets out of hand and let Murray handle the workload. The Bills have been terrible on defense thus far and have allowed a league-worst four rushing touchdowns.
WIDE RECEIVER
Nelson Agholor, PHI vs. IND ($6,600): This is way too low of a price for a player who's had 10 and 12 targets in his first two games and now gets Carson Wentz back under center. Agholor had 19 fantasy points last week finding the end zone, and this game could end up being a shootout with both quarterbacks capable of putting up big numbers. Without Alshon Jeffery, Agholor will continue to be the main target in the passing game.
Amari Cooper, OAK at MIA ($6,900): Cooper being below $7K seems odd given he's clearly the top target in this offense. His bad Week 1 can be chalked up to playing against the almighty Rams who might have the best defense in the league. Cooper was able to corral all 10 of his targets for 116 yards last game, and while that's obviously not a sustainable percentage, he will also find the end zone in his future games adding to his fantasy value.
TIGHT END
Will Dissly, SEA vs. DAL ($4,600): This is a ridiculously low price for a player who's scored double-digits in each of his first two games. Dissly is clearly the top tight end target for Russell Wilson, and it bodes well for this week's success that Evan Engram just had a 7-67-1 line against these Cowboys. Dissly has gotten five targets in both games including a red zone target in each as well.
FLEX
Corey Clement, PHI vs. IND ($5,800): With Jay Ajayi dealing with back issues and Darren Sproles likely out again this weekend, Clement is poised to handle the bulk of the workload in the Eagles backfield. Clement was able to find the end zone in Week 2 finishing with 85 yards from scrimmage on 11 touches, five of which were catches. Look for Clement to get 15-plus touches this weekend if his fellow teammates are ruled out as is expected.
DEFENSE
Chicago Bears at Arizona ($4,300): The Bears don't totally break the bank this week and come in as the eighth-highest price defense. They have 10 sacks in the first two games, a defensive touchdown, an interception and a fumble recovery in each game as well. Sam Bradford and the Arizona offense has sputtered out of the gate, and the addition of Khalil Mack makes the Bears a top-three defense in the league.
