2025 Fantasy Outlook
Much like Christian McCaffrey going from Carolina to San Francisco or Derrick Henry swapping Tennessee for Baltimore, the switch from the Giants to the Eagles last season made a huge difference in Barkley's output. He's always been a high-volume RB, but efficiency was an impossible task at times in New York while dealing with lousy blocking and poor QBs. It turns out Barkley is a lot harder to tackle when he has an elite offensive line and competent passing game giving the defense something additional to worry about. He improved from 3.9 YPC in his last year with the Giants to 5.8 in 2024, propelled by a sharp increase in big plays. Barkley's carries of 20-plus and 40-plus yards, respectively, rose from seven and zero in 2023 to 17 and seven last year. It's likely not sustainable for Barkley to average a 40-plus carry every two or three weeks the way he did in his first season with Philadelphia, but the conditions that made him so productive remain intact, as it will always be profoundly difficult for defenses to show a proper amount of respect to Barkley, QB Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia wide receivers at the same time. RANKS
Held to 68 yards against Bills
Barkley rushed 19 times for 68 yards and was not targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 13-12 win over Buffalo.
ANALYSIS
Barkley failed to break away from the Bills' athletic linebacking corps and was held to 3.6 yards per tote Sunday. The 28-year-old failed to extend his modest scoring streak to four games, culminating in a mediocre fantasy performance by the superstar's standards. It was also the first time this season that Barkley did not receive a target, but the workhorse still commanded 19 of Philadelphia's 23 backfield carries. Barkley and his 280-1,140-7 rushing line will attempt to finish off a solid, yet underwhelming, regular season against the Commanders in Week 18.

Barkley's career has generally been a difficult one due to injuries and the struggles of the Giants offenses, but his rare talent usually shines through and provides fantasy investors with solid production despite the grueling nature of his workloads. The hope now is that by going from the Giants to the Eagles there might be a chance for Barkley to finally find some open field as a ballcarrier, not to mention more scoring opportunities. The Eagles offense made Miles Sanders one of the league's most productive runners just two years ago, so putting Barkley in the same scheme could result in one of the league's best outputs at running back. The retirement of center Jason Kelce is a bummer, but it's something the Eagles should be able to manage, as the offensive line left behind is still much better than what Barkley ever had with the Giants. D'Andre Swift claimed 229 carries and 49 targets in 16 games last year, so those numbers probably represent Barkley's floor for usage if he stays relatively healthy in his age-27 season.

ANALYSIS
Barkley suffered a groin injury in the second half but believes he felt good enough to continue playing if needed. With the Eagles on bye in Week 9, Barkley may be able to avoid missing further game action. Tank Bigsby, Will Shipley and AJ Dillon are Philadelphia's backup running back options.
