NFL Week 11 Line Movement
A quarterback is the only position that can significantly move an NFL point spread, and a top-tier QB can be worth up to seven or more points. For all other positions, the impact is minimal and usually less than a single point, unless multiple players on the same unit are injured. When a unit has multiple starters out, it is often overlooked in the handicapping world. OL, DL, secondary, and WR are the units that are impacted the most.
New York Jets at New England Patriots
The Patriots are starting to join the power rating club along with the Colts and Seahawks, as they make an appearance in the line movement column this week. This is also in conjunction with the Jets' power rating dropping significantly since the start of the season.
This game opened with the Patriots as -5.5 home favorites and saw it reopen on November 4th with the Patriots up to -10.5. Since then, the number has continued to climb in favor of the Pats off their impressive road win against the Bucs. There is a bit of a dead zone between -10.5 and -13.0, which is why the number has continued to climb.
The total opened 42.5 and peaked to 46.0 on November 4th, but frigid temperatures have hit and now the game time temperature is 38 degrees, causing the total to plummet down to 42.5.
Washington Commanders vs Miami Dolphins
You know it is wild when the line movement is in FAVOR of the Dolphins because they have seen their power rating drop by quite a bit since the start of the season. But the Commanders are a sinking ship with Jayden Daniels out and several injuries on the defensive side as well. This line opened with the Commanders as -3.5 road favorites, and it has swung completely over to the Miami side with them now -3.0 home favorites.
The total has taken a bit of a hit, with it opening at 49.5 and now sitting at 47.5. This number did hit a low of 46.0 before jumping back up.
Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
The line movement in this game is completely based on Joe Burrow being injured as the Bengals were originally -1.5 road favorites. The Steelers reopened as -6.0 point home favorites for about a full touchdown swing. The number peaked at -6.5 before adjusting back to -5.5.
The total opened 46.5 and reopened all the way up to 50.0 before bouncing around between 48.5 and 50.5.
Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans
The Titans are power rated near the bottom of the NFL and this line movement reflects that, with it originally opening with the Texans as -3.0 road favorites and now it is all the way up to a full touchdown at -7.0 with backup quarterback Davis Mills for Houston.
