NFL Week 8 Predictions, Picks, Props and Best Bets for Every Game

The 49ers have been rolling as of late despite all their injuries, and Joe Bartel thinks Christian McCaffrey and company will continue to be dominant this week against the Texans.

I've only had two bad weeks all year, but we're still trying to recover from those from a season record perspective. The bye weeks will cut into any chance of making up significant ground, but it also mitigates any truly catastrophic weeks too. Week 8's overall slate feel pretty "bleh" to me, just in terms of interesting games, but also spreads. I do, however, think there's some clear advantage points for us to grab still.

NFL Week 8 Predictions

In this article, we also take a look at NFL Week 8 odds and our predictions for each NFL game. Home teams are listed last.

Vikings vs. Chargers

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Vikings vs. ChargersChargers -3.5Los Angeles -175; Minnesota +14544.5

The level of injuries Los Angeles is dealing with along the offensive line is almost historic. Justin Herbert has been playing out of his mind despite all that, but this feels like a difficult spread to overcome given the respect I have in Brian Flores.

Spread Pick: Vikings +3.5
Total Pick: Over 44.5

Dolphins vs. Falcons

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Dolphins vs. FalconsFalcons -7.5Atlanta -455; Miami +35044.5

Your first entry into a week that I think will be best served just doing teasers or moneyline parlays. I expect Atlanta to win by more than a touchdown and I assume Mike McDaniel will be fired here in the near future, but the Falcons seem to be the most topsy-turvy I can recall in recent memory. At least compared to what their highs and lows look like.

Spread Pick: Falcons -7.5
Total Pick: Under 44.5

Bears vs. Ravens

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Bears vs. RavensRavens -6.5Baltimore -285; Chicago +23049.5

I think this line is only here because Vegas has been guaranteed Baltimore will play Lamar Jackson (hamstring) this week. That feels awfully presumptuous to me, but it's the only explainable option. Even in that event, the Ravens have had such a miserable defense to start the year that I'd be surprised if one bye week outright fixes those issues. And yes, Caleb Williams has looked erratic in recent weeks, but I have confidence he can take advantage of the majority of scoring opportunities Baltimore will present.

Spread Pick: Bears +6.5
Total Pick: Over 47.5

Bills vs. Panthers

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Bills vs. PanthersBills -7Buffalo -380; Carolina +30046.5

I'm not really concerned about Buffalo, who I picked to make it to the Super Bowl from the AFC this year, but it sure would be nice for them to demolish one of these bad teams on their schedule for once. Carolina can definitely run the ball, an area that Buffalo struggles to stop, but with Andy Dalton playing, I have to think the Bills will just crowd the box. This should be easy, right?

Spread Pick: Bills -7
Total Pick: Under 46.5

Jets vs. Bengals

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Jets vs. BengalsBengals -6.5Cincinnati -290; New York +23544.5

I could be reading this game entirely wrong, but I think Tyrod Taylor is capable of leading a functional offense. That's perfect against a Cincy defense that's already one of the worst in the league. I'd be pretty stunned if the Jets win this game, but a near touchdown spread seems a bit off with the QB change.

Spread Pick: Jets +6.5
Total Pick: Over 44.5

49ers vs. Texans

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
49ers vs. TexansTexans -1.5Houston -115; San Francisco -10541.5

I have absolutely zero clue why Vegas would have Houston at all the favorites in this. Guess I'm going to just willingly walk into the biggest rat line of the year because I feel like San Fran should be favored by three or more in this.

Spread Pick: 49ers +1.5
Total Pick: Under 41.5

Browns vs. Patriots

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Browns vs. PatriotsPatriots -7New England -375; Cleveland +29540.5

The Patriots will stumble at some point, but I doubt it'll be this week. Dillon Gabriel is just not capable of leading a functioning offense, and I think you need more than three scores (and not short fields created by inexplicable Tua Tagovailoa turnovers) to beat New England.

Spread Pick: Patriots -7
Total Pick: Under 40.5

Giants vs. Eagles

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Giants vs. EaglesEagles -7.5Philadelphia -425; New York +33043.5

It's annoying Philadelphia is still favored by over a touchdown despite outright losing to the Giants just a couple of weeks ago, but I do think that's going to be a motivating factor for everyone. New York's historic collapse against Denver the week prior is usually one of those things that I believe gives a team a bit of a spark. But it could also turn into a complete rollercoaster downward if the bitter feelings aren't erased quickly.

Spread Pick: Eagles -7.5
Total Pick: Over 43.5

Buccaneers vs. Saints

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Buccaneers vs. SaintsBuccaneers -4.5Tampa Bay -225; New Orleans +18546.5

Tampa Bay is just dealing with a litany of injuries. The bye week could not come soon enough. Baker Mayfield finally had a bad game, but I don't think the national media gave enough credit to Detroit's defense, or the home-field advantage, in that Monday night drubbing. We're only a few weeks away from the Tyler Shough experience, which will make me even more confident to pick against the Saints. This line is really close to me just holding my breath and picking New Orleans, but I'll blindly believe in the Bucs one more week I guess.

Spread Pick: Buccaneers -4.5
Total Pick: Under 46.5

Cowboys vs. Broncos

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Cowboys vs. BroncosBroncos -3.5Denver -180; Dallas +15050.5

It's a battle of two really good-bad teams in the NFL! Denver's defense has hardly been this advertised juggernaut they were supposed to be to start the season, meanwhile Dak Prescott has been absolutely on fire for over a month now. I'd love to pick the Cowboys outright to win, but for now this is a very easy pick for Dallas to cover.

Spread Pick: Cowboys +3.5
Total Pick: Over 50.5

Titans vs. Colts

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Titans vs. ColtsColts -14Indianapolis -1350; Tennessee +80045.5

Literally a pointless game. I'm only writing something down out of obligation from a spread perspective.

Spread Pick: Colts -14
Total Pick: Under 47.5

Packers vs. Steelers

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Packers vs. SteelersPackers -3Green Bay -170; Pittsburgh +14245.5

The Packers perpetually play down to their competition, but the inverse of that is also true. Typically in big games like this, or games in which the Packers are counted out, Matt LaFleur has a better gameplan than you'd expect. I'm not sure this really qualifies to fit the latter's theme given Green Bay is favored despite this being in Pittsburgh, but if you watch the national media have this conversation it sure feels like a pick'em to me. The Steelers covering is a no brainer for me with this line and I wouldn't be shocked at all if they end up winning this game outright.

Spread Pick: Steelers +3
Total Pick: Over 45.5

Commanders vs. Chiefs

GameSpreadMoneylineTotal
Commanders vs. ChiefsChiefs -12.5Kansas City -750; Washington +52546.5

ESPN had to be salivating over this game to begin the season. Washington was never going to repeat their miraculous playoff run from last year and I felt very comfortable assuming they'd regress, but this could get ugly over the coming weeks. Kansas City certainly has faults of its own, but it won't matter in this setting against Marcus Mariota this week.

Spread Pick: Chiefs -12.5
Total Pick: Under 46.5
