Weekly Rankings: Week 14 Value Meter

Weekly Rankings: Week 14 Value Meter

This article is part of our Weekly Rankings series.

Sunday Update complete

Two Byes: AZ, WAS

Welcome to the Weekly Value Meter Rankings. This is a guide to help you decide who to start and sit in a given week. It's is not a season-long ranking nor a draft guide, and it's also not really intended as a free agent guide. While I appreciate that you want my opinion on pickups, every league is different, and your decision on whether to add/drop a particular player might also be dictated by other factors than who is rated higher in a given week.

Here are my operating assumptions for the rankings:

- The RB/WR/TE position rankings are for PPR leagues.
- The Flex rankings are for Standard leagues.
- 1 point per 10 rushing/receiving yards.
- 1 point per 20 passing yards.
- 4 points per passing touchdowns.

These are the rankings I use when I make my start/sit decisions. Please consult the rankings first before asking "Should I start Patrick Mahomes or Bryce Young?"

These are my particular rankings. If you want a second opinion elsewhere on the site, you can see our Weekly Projections.

Each week, the first set of rankings will be posted on Tuesday night. I will then do a set of updates before kickoff on Thursday, and again before kickoff on Sunday morning.

When setting your lineups, make sure to refer to the NFL inactives to ensure all of your players are set to receive snaps.

I welcome debate on the rankings in the comments.

Note: Hurts briefly got checked out for a concussion in the loss to the Niners but later returned.
5.Patrick Mahomes KC vs. BUF
6.Brock Purdy SF vs. SEA
7.Justin Herbert LAC vs. DEN
8.*Jordan Love GB at NYG
Note: Love had a really strong performance against the Chiefs, now gets the Giants on Monday night.
9.*Lamar Jackson BAL vs. LAR
Note: Jackson missed practice with an illness on Thursday. ***Cleared from the injured list. It's going to be rainy in Baltimore for the game.***
10.Justin Fields CHI vs. DET
11.Jared Goff DET at CHI
12.*Joshua Dobbs MIN at LV
Note: Named the starter again this week.
13.*C.J. Stroud HOU at NYJ
Note: Stroud left last week's game for two plays to be checked for a concussion but subsequently returned. Downgraded one spot due to the terrible weather forecast.***
14.Gardner Minshew IND at CIN
15.Jake Browning CIN vs. IND
16.Baker Mayfield TB at ATL
17.Russell Wilson DEN at LAC
18.Desmond Ridder ATL vs. TB
19.*Matthew Stafford LA at BAL
Note: Stafford threw for 279 yards in the win over the Browns, his best yardage output since Week 4.
20.*Derek Carr NO vs. CAR
Note: Carr is in the concussion protocol and has a rib injury, but his shoulder at least checked out fine. Carr has managed a pair of limited practices so far. ***Carr cleared concussion protocol and isn't listed on the injury report, somewhat improbably. It looks as if he'll be the starter.***
21.Will Levis TEN at MIA
22.Aidan O'Connell LV vs. MIN
23.*Tommy DeVito NYG vs. GB
Note: DeVito will remain the starter this week, even though Tyrod Taylor (ribs) was designated to return from IR.
24.*Trevor Lawrence JAC at CLE
Note: Lawrence suffered a high-ankle sprain Monday night against the Bengals. C.J. Beathard is next in line. Lawrence managed a limited practice Thursday and improbably has a chance to play on Sunday. ***The Jaguars are planning on Lawrence starting, pending on how he does in pregame warmups.***
25.*Joe Flacco CLE vs. JAX
Note: By rule, Flacco reverted back to the practice squad on Monday, but he's likely in line to start again this week against Jacksonville. ***The Browns activated Flacco again from the practice squad but didn't officially announce him as the starter. Teammate Dorian Thompson-Robinson has cleared concussion protocol.***
26.*Zach Wilson NYJ vs. HOU
Note: The Jets might go back to Wilson this week, after releasing Tim Boyle. Wilson has officially been named the starter.
27.*Drew Lock SEA at SF
Note: ***Lock could step in as the starter after Geno Smith injured his groin in practice and is a game-time decision.***
28.Bryce Young CAR at NO
29.*Bailey Zappe NE at PIT
Note: Zappe likely will start again Thursday against the Steelers.
30.*Mitch Trubisky PIT vs. NE
Note: Trubisky will start Thursday night against the Patriots with Kenny Pickett (ankle) out.
31.*C.J. Beathard JAC at CLE
Note: Beathard subbed in late after Trevor Lawrence suffered a high-ankle sprain Monday night. Beathard is on the injury list with a left (non-throwing) shoulder issue and was limited Wednesday. Meanwhile, Lawrence managed a limited practice Thursday and hasn't been ruled out yet. ***Beathard has cleared the injury list, yet it looks now that Trevor Lawrence will be able to play.***
32.*Geno Smith SEA at SF
Note: ***Smith tweaked his groin in practice and is now a game-time decision. It has been described by ESPN's Adam Schefter as a two-week injury.***
33.*Jameis Winston NO vs. CAR
Note: Winston was really errant in his brief stint against the Lions last week - twice he missed an open Chris Olave on the Saints' final drive. ***Derek Carr is going to play after all.***
34.*Taysom Hill NO vs. CAR
Note: This week I'd rank Hill seventh at TE, just ahead of Jake Ferguson. Hill (foot/hand) has missed the first two practices this week. As a consequence, I'd drop him down to 10th among tight ends right now, and possibly lower pending what he does on Friday. ***Hill missed practice Friday and is not expected to play.***
35.*Trevor Siemian NYJ vs. HOU
Note: Turning to Siemian instead of Tim Boyle was a natural selection for the Jets, though the situation didn't evolve as they had hoped.
36.Mac Jones NE at PIT
37.*Dorian Thompson-Robinson CLE vs. JAX
Note: Thompson-Robinson remained in the concussion protocol on Monday. DTR remains in the concussion protocol after a limited practice Thursday.
38.*Kenny Pickett PIT vs. NE
Note: Pickett suffered a high-ankle sprain in the loss to Arizona and had surgery to repair it on Monday. The Steelers have avoided putting him on the IR for now.

13.Josh Jacobs LV vs. MIN
14.Joe Mixon CIN vs. IND

16.Rachaad White TB at ATL
17.*Austin Ekeler LAC vs. DEN
Note: The Chargers' running game seems broken, and now Ekeler isn't getting there in the passing game as often either. Chargers' coach Brandon Staley said that there might be some competition for carries. That said, Joshua Kelley has actually been worse on a per carry basis.

19.Jaylen Warren PIT vs. NE
20.Jerome Ford CLE vs. JAX

38.Kenneth Gainwell PHI at DAL
39.*Clyde Edwards-Helaire KC vs. BUF
Note: ***Teammate Isiah Pacheco has been ruled out with a shoulder contusion. CEH should get more carries, Jerick McKinnon more receptions.***

45.*Aaron Jones GB at NYG
Note: Jones (knee) was on the practice field Thursday for the first time since Nov. 19. He was listed as limited. ***Jones had three limited practices all week and is listed as questionable.
